GNLU UG Admission 2012
Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is one of the premier institutes in the country for Law education. It is one of the 12 National Law Universities in India. Gujarat National Law University was established through Gujarat National Law University Act, 2003. GNLU was inaugurated in July 2004. Admission to GNLU is through Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) which is conducted for admission to 11 national Law universities.
Gujarat National Law University is situated in Gandhinagar. The university offers three 5 year undergraduate law programs to the students: B.A LL.B.(Hons), B.Sc LL.B.(Hons) & B.Com LL.B.(Hons). GNLU is recognised by UGC and Bar Council of India. It is a fully residential University. GNLU offers 160 seats in its 5 year LLB programs. Of these 10% seats are reserved for Gujarat domiciled candidates. The college undertakes offers 160 seats in total, with 80 in two different sections.
CLAT 2012 Important Dates:
i. Issue of Application Forms: 2nd January, 2012 (Monday)
ii. Last date for submission of filled-in forms: 31st March 2012 (Saturday)
iii. Issue of Hall Tickets: Up to 14th April 2012 (Saturday)
iv. Date of CLAT-2012 Examination: 13th May 2012 (Sunday) from 03:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
v. Publication of Result: 28th May 2012 (Monday)
UNDER GRADUATE PROGRAMME: [FIVE YEARS B.A./B.Com./B.B.A./B.S.W./B.Sc. LL.B (Hons.)]
Eligibility for Admission for UG Programme:
i. Successful clearance of HSC/Intermediate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in aggregate (45% in case of SC/ST and Persons with Disability)
ii. Candidate appearing in the qualifying examination can appear provisionally, subject to the production of necessary qualification papers before or at the counseling session.
iii. Candidates passing HSc/10+2/equivalent exam by re-take/more than one attempt/special permissions are not eligible.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR UG AND PG PROGRAMME/COURSE UNDER NRI QUOTA:
BACKGROUND
NRI seats are applicable to NRI candidates or candidates sponsored by NRI (only blood relatives of candidate). (Definition of NRI is attached herewith)
Three seats shall be reserved for all India General quota and one seat from Gujarat Domicile quota for NRI quota for Undergraduate programme.
Two seats shall be reserved from all India General quota for NRI quota for Postgraduate programme
Unfilled seats (if any) shall be filled, as per the GNLU Executive Council decision, in order of the CLAT merit.
ELIGIBILITY:
UG PROGRAMME:
- Candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2 or equivalent) examination in the first attempt from India or outside India from the recognised board/university of that country with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.
- The age of the candidate should be less than 20 years as on 01-06-2012.
- Candidate must have appeared in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
PG PROGRAMME:
- LL.B. degree/equivalent from a recognized University, with at least 55% or more marks for General category and 50% marks for reserved categories.
- Candidate appearing in the qualifying examination, such as LL. B., can appear provisionally, subject to the production of necessary qualification papers before or at the counselling session.
- Candidate must have appeared in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
a) Admission will be given according to the merit of the CLAT 2012 score. Admission will be given according to the merit of the Higher Secondary Certificate marks in case of tie in CLAT score amongst two or more students.
b) Last date for submission of the application form 30 April 2012. (Last date may be extended, if found appropriate by the University authorities)
* Application will be automatically rejected if any candidate found using illegal practice or trying to influence University officials for the admission in any way.
APPLICATION FORM:
Eligible candidates may submit their application on prescribed format for admission against NRI/NRI sponsored quota along with the following documents;
a) Two copies of recent passport size colour photograph
b) Passport of the Applicant and/or of the person sponsoring the candidate issued by Government of India.
c) Proof of age of the applicant.
d) Proof of NRI from the Indian Embassy from the respective country (i.e. valid visa and current proof of residence of respective country).
e) HSC (for UG) and LL. B. (for PG)/Equivalent Examination Mark Memo along with the affidavit (in case of NRI candidate).
f) Marks equivalent to Grades certificate issued by the Authority (If applicable).
g) Sponsorship letter (format attached) along with the affidavit to sponsor the candidate till the completion of the study.
h) NRI bank account pass book/statement of the sponsorer/candidate
i) Application fee in form of demand draft of Rs. 10,000/- (non-refundable) in the name of the Gujarat National Law University payable at Ahmedabad.
j) Candidate must submit copy of hall ticket of examination of CLAT (after competition of CLAT examination) for the verification purposes.
