Entrance Examination for Five Year LL.B Course - 2012

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION FOR ADMISSION TO INTEGRATED FIVE YEAR LL.B COURSE 2011-12 NOTIFICATION


1. Applications are invited for the Entrance Examination for admission to Integrated Five Year LL.B Course-2011 in the Government Law Colleges at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode.

2. Eligibility for Admission:

(i) Nativity: Applicant should be an Indian citizen.

(ii) Academic qualifications: Applicant should have passed 10+2 Higher Secondary course of recognized by the Educational Authority of the Central or State Government OR possesses such academic qualifications which are considered equivalent to such 10 + 2 course by the Bar Council of India, with a minimum of 45% marks. Candidates seeking admission under SC/ST category should have passed the qualifying examination with 40% marks. Candidates who are appearing /have appeared for the qualifying examination this year are also eligible to apply for the Entrance Examination subject to the condition that they should produce the Pass Certificate and Mark Lists of the qualifying examination at the time of Admission.

(iii) Age: The applicant should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December 2011. There is no upper age limit.

(iv) Qualifying standards in the Entrance Examination: To qualify in the rank list for admission to Integrated Five year LL.B course, a General/SEBC applicant should get a minimum of 25% of total marks in the Entrance Examination and a candidate belonging to SC/ST category should get a minimum of 20% of total marks out of 600 in the Entrance Examination.

3. Entrance Examination: The Entrance Examination will be conducted at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode on 31.07.2011 (Sunday). It will be of 3 hours duration and will consist of 200 Multiple Choice Questions. The Questions will cover General Knowledge, English and Aptitude for Legal Studies.

4. How & When to Apply: Candidates seeking admission to the course can apply online through the web site www.cee-kerala.org of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations. There will be separate link for General, SEBC and SC/ST candidates. The site will be opened for online registration from 06.07.2011 to 18.07.2011, 5 p.m.

5. Application Fee: For General and SEBC candidates, the application fee is Rs.600/- (Rupees Six Hundred Only) and for SC/ST Candidates the application fee is Rs.300/- (Rupees Three Hundred Only).The required fee can be remitted at any branch of the State bank of Travancore using the Bank Chalan which is available in the online application print out. The original Chalan should be attached with the application form duly signed and authorized by Bank authorities on remittance of application fees. Candidates outside Kerala State can remit the application fee by attaching a Demand Draft for the requisite amount drawn on a Nationalized Bank in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, payable at Thiruvananthapuram.

6. Last date and time for receipt of filled-in application forms: Candidates should take the printout of the online application and fix a passport size photograph same as the one which is uploaded, in the space provided. The photograph should be attested by the candidate and forward the same with all the required documents to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Housing Board Buildings, 5th Floor, Santhinagar, Thiruvananthapuram – 695 001, either by Registered post or by hand delivery on or before 5 pm on 18.11.2011.

7. The candidates registered for the Examination can download their ADMIT CARD through the website www.cee-kerala.org from 24.07.2011 onwards.

8. Belated, incomplete and defective applications will be summarily rejected and no correspondence will be undertaken in this regard. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will not be responsible for any postal delay.

9. Institution wise Allotment: The Institution wise allotment will be made by Commissioner for Entrance Examinations in accordance with the rank obtained by the candidates in the Entrance Examination and the order of preference of Institutions given by the candidates at the time of Online Seat Allotment. Candidates need not submit their preference for Institutions in the application form.

10. Candidates will not be allowed to include any additional information in the application form or to submit any certificates/documents claiming reservation or any benefits, after the submission of the application, under any circumstances.

11. Applicants must go through the various provisions related to Entrance Examination, course eligibility, distribution of seats, reservation etc given in Prospectus for 2011, approved by the Government and available in the official website of Commissioner for Entrance Examinations at www.cee-kerala.org before submitting the application form.

12. The Centralized allotment to the course will be conducted after the publication of the results of the Entrance Examination. Individual intimation regarding the Centralized Allotment Process (CAP) will not be sent to candidates. The details of CAP will be announced later through leading news papers.

13. The Entrance Examination and subsequent allotments will be based on the various provisions laid down in the Prospectus for admission to Integrated 5 year LL.B Courses in Government Law Colleges, Kerala 2011, approved by the Government. The Prospectus will be available in the Official web site of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations www.cee-kerala.org Candidates are directed to go through the various provisions in the Prospectus before submitting their applications.

Total Seats: The number of seats in the four Law Colleges is as shown below.

(i) Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram : 80
(ii) Government Law College, Ernakulam : 80
(iii) Government Law College, Thrissur : 80
(iv) Government Law College, Kozhikode : 80
Total : 320

Entrance Examination:

(i) The Entrance Examination shall be of three hours duration and will consist of 200 Objective type questions in

(a) General Knowledge (65 questions),
(b) English (65 questions) and
(c) Aptitude for Legal Studies (70 questions).

The candidates have to mark their responses in the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) Answer sheet given to them. The bubbles in the OMR Answer sheet should be filled up using ball point (blue or black) pen only. The candidates will not be allowed to take home the Question booklet issued to them in the Examination Hall. The question booklet should be returned along with the OMR Answer sheet to the invigilator.

(ii) Valuation - For each correct response the candidate will be awarded three marks and for each incorrect response one mark will be deducted from the total score. However, in the event of failure to answer questions, (i.e. no response is indicated for an item in the answer sheet) no deduction from the total score will be made. More than one answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect response and will be awarded negative marks.

(iii) Resolving of Tie - In case there is tie in the total marks in the entrance examination, the candidate securing higher marks in the part ‘Aptitude for Legal Studies’ of the Entrance Examination will be placed higher in the ranking. If the tie still persists, candidate with higher marks in the part ‘English’ of the Entrance Examination will be placed higher in the ranking. If the tie still exists, the age of the candidate will be considered, the elder being placed higher in ranking than the younger.

(iv) Publication of Results - The rank list for admission to the course will be published on the basis of the total marks secured by the candidates for the Entrance Examination.

(v) Publication of Category Lists - Separate category–wise list will be published for SEBC/SC/ST Reservation, Special Reservation, Person with Disability etc. Candidates are advised to verify the category list published by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations and satisfy themselves regarding their position in the list. If candidates have any complaint in this regard he/she may approach the Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations within the notified time after publication of the category list, for necessary action. Complaints received thereafter will not be entertained.
