LSAT-India is a standardized test adopted as an admissions criterion by multiple law colleges across India. LSAT—India measures skills that are considered essential for success in law school. LSAT—India is specially created for admissions to law schools in India by the Law School Admission Council, USA (LSAC). The LSAC has been helping law schools in several countries evaluate the critical-thinking skills of their applicants for more than 60 years.

A Single Common Test for Multiple Law Colleges

Candidates have the benefit of taking a single test - the LSAT-India - to become eligible for the admissions process of multiple law colleges in India which recognize the LSAT—India scores. Candidates can take the LSAT-India on Saturday 05th May, 2012 at any of the test centres spread across 15 cities in India.

Simple Registration Process: To register for the LSAT-India, please visit the registration link given under ‘Quick Links’ on the website.

After completing the LSAT—India registration, candidates can apply to the participating colleges (colleges which will accept LSAT—India scores). Candidates can choose to apply to any or all of the participating colleges, however, LSAT—India scores will be given to all participating Colleges. A list of participating law colleges is available on this site.

Candidates can download the application forms from the respective college websites and apply to the college mentioning their LSAT—India registration number.

Important Dates:

Candidates can register for LSAT—India through ONLINE mode or by sending a Demand Draft. Registration windows are different for these modes.

Candidates should take care of the timings as given below:
  • Exam start time: 2:30 pm
  • Candidates to reach the centre by: 1:45 pm
  • Total test time: 140 mins (2 hr 20 mins)
  • Exam Finish time: 4:50 pm
  • Breaks: None
Test centre gates will be opened 45 mins before the start of test.

About the Test:
  • LSAT—India is a standardized test of reading and verbal reasoning skills designed by the USA–based Law School Admission Council (LSAC) for use by law schools in India.
  • The LSAT—India will be administered across 15 cities in India on 5th May, 2012 (2:30 PM)
  • LSAT—India is a paper-and-pencil test with four sections.
  • Test duration – 2 hours and 20 minutes
  • Question type – Multiple Choice format
  • Registration Fee – Rs. 3500/-
  • Registration Window: Candidates can register for LSAT—India through ONLINE mode or by sending a Demand Draft. Registration windows are different for these modes.
    • Online Registration – 15th Dec, 2011 to 15th April, 2012
    • Registration through Demand Draft/PO/Banker's cheque – 15th Dec, 2011 to 12th April, 2012
The demand draft/pay order/banker's cheque (favouring NCS Pearson India Pvt. Ltd., payable at New Delhi/ Noida) should reach the below mentioned address on or before 12th April, 2012 either by post or courier.

Candidates should write “LSAT—India” at the bottom of the envelope.

LSAT India Registration/Student Application Process:

i. Register online for the LSAT—India entrance test by logging on to www.pearsonvueindia.com/lsatindia. The LSAT—India registration fee is Rs. 3500/- ; the fee can be paid online or by a demand draft/pay order/ banker's cheque. The candidate can also contact Pearson VUE at LSATIndia@pearson.com for more information. On completion of the registration, all candidates will get an LSAT—India registration number. Candidates will need to mention this LSAT—India registration number while submitting the application forms to the participating colleges.

ii. After obtaining the LSAT—India registration number, the candidate must download/obtain the application form from the participating college. The college admission application forms will require candidates to mention their LSAT—India registration number. Candidates must ensure that they write their LSAT—India registration number at the given place in the Application Form of the participating colleges.

iii. All registrants who complete the test registration, pay the test fee in a timely way, and follow published test rules may sit for the LSAT—India. It is the candidates' responsibility to understand the eligibility requirements of the participating law schools to which he/she is applying before deciding to register for the LSAT—India. If a candidate registers for the test and then determines that he/she is ineligible for admission to the intended law school, no test-fee refund will be available.

iv. Test Scores of students writing the LSAT—India will be transmitted to the participating colleges (refer to Participating Colleges link for details).

Testing Locations: The locations for the LSAT—India are:

1. North: Chandigarh, Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow
2. South: Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi
3. West: Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Mumbai
4. East: Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Raipur, Ranchi

LSAT 2012 Admit Card:

Only candidates whose registration form has been properly completed in all respects and received by Pearson VUE within the stipulated time and who have paid the applicable Test Fee will be entitled to take the LSAT—India examination for that particular calendar year. The admit card will be available for download from this website for all candidates whose registration is accepted. Each admit card ticket will include a unique candidate identification number generated at the time of registration which shall be the candidate's "registration number".

Admit cards of eligible candidates, whose registration requirements are complete in all respects, would be available for download from 29th April, 2012 to 4th May, 2012.

Pearson VUE is not responsible for any candidate who is not able to download the admit card due to entering of wrong information. Pearson VUE is not responsible for non-download of the same due to any force majeure conditions. Candidates who are not able to download their admit card can call the customer support phone number published on www.pearsonvueindia.com/lsatindia or e-mail lsatindia@pearson.com to seek assistance.

Applicants with Disabilities:

In case a candidate has a vision or mobility impairment, he/she is required to state the same in the registration form. A scribe will be allowed to assist candidates with vision impairments, and mobility assistance will be available for those with mobility impairments. Candidates with vision impairment please note that a large-print test may be available, depending upon the severity.

Pearson VUE reserves the right to make final judgment regarding testing accommodations in accordance with LSAT—India 's requirements.

Test Centre Change/Rescheduling or Cancellation of Exam:

A candidate can not reschedule or cancel his/her examination or request for test centre change once he/she has registered for the LSAT—India.

Test Results Reporting to Candidates: Test results generally will be reported approximately four (4) weeks after the test date.

Registration Fees:

FEES: Registration fee for the test is Rs. 3500/-, payable by credit card or demand draft/pay order/ banker's cheque at the time of registration (kindly note that the last date of payments receipt differs for these two modes; candidates are advised to check "Important dates" for details). This fee includes a free practice test that a candidate can download when he/she registers for the test. All three types of questions are included, along with explanations regarding how to approach each question type.

Payment will be accepted in Rupees for candidates writing the LSAT—India by Visa and Master Card credit cards issued in India only and no other debit or bank credit card.

In case a candidate taking the test is unable to provide the payment by the specified credit cards, he/she will have an option to enter the demand draft/pay order/banker's cheque details online, obtain an online acknowledgement, and mail the physical DD/PO/Banker's cheque along with the acknowledgement to the address of Pearson VUE specified. Demand draft/pay order/banker's cheque is to be drawn in favor of NCS Pearson India Private Limited payable at New Delhi or NOIDA.

Pearson VUE will not be held responsible for late or non-delivery of any material or information sent by it through electronic mail and/or post to candidates. No refunds will be issued to candidates who:

(1) fail to appear for a scheduled test;
(2) fail to meet the identification and admit card requirements; or
(3) fail to meet or violate LSAT—India test rules and policies.

There will also be no refunds for candidates who do not arrive or arrive late at the testing centre on the test date.

Pearson VUE shall not allow any candidate to sit for the test or release the test score to the educational institution/university concerned in case the online payment received from the candidate is repudiated. No such repudiation will be permitted after the expiry of 30 (thirty) days from the date of payment in case of payment by credit card or debit card or net banking. Any requests made after the time period of repudiation will not be entertained and the amount so paid will be forfeited.

Day of the Test:

Candidates are required to reach the test centre latest by 1:45 PM on the date of the examination. Since the test procedure will start sharp at 2:30 PM, candidates reporting at the test centre after 1:45 PM will not be admitted. NO REQUESTS FOR EXCEPTIONS WILL BE ENTERTAINED IN THIS REGARD. The test administrator is not authorized to admit candidates arriving later than 1:45 PM.Testing centres will be in a comfortable environment.

The candidate needs to bring the following to the test centre:

1. Test admit card, without which the candidate will not be allowed to take the test.
2. HB pencils and erasers.
3. One valid (original and non-expired) photo identification proof

The following are considered valid Photo ID documents:
i. Driving License
ii. PAN Card
iii. Passport
iv. Voter ID card
v. School/College/University Identity Card
vi. Any other Government issued photo ID

If a registrant for five-year LSAT—India does not have any of the above IDs, she/he will be admitted upon presentation of ANY TWO of the following, in original:

i. Tenth Pass Certificate/Mark Sheet that has Date of Birth on it
ii. School Identity Card (photo)
iii. Original Admit Card issued by University/Board for Twelfth Standard Examination (photo)

Candidates who are unable to produce one of the above forms of valid ID, in original will NOT BE admitted into the testing room and shall not be offered a test-fee refund.

The test invigilator, after checking the admit card of the candidate, will guide the candidate to the seat allotted to him/her in the examination hall. The candidate must ensure that he/she occupies the seat allotted to him/her by verifying the test registration number pasted/written on the desk and indicated in the admit card.

The test procedure begins with the distribution of the answer sheet (AS). The candidate must fill in his/her name, as it appears in the admit card. The test registration number and other details mentioned in the AS must also be filled. Candidate must use only HB pencil for filling up the AS.

On receipt of the question paper candidates will tear open the tamper proof seal only when the invigilator asks them to open the seal. Any candidate, who opens the seal prior to the announcement by the invigilator, may be liable to get disqualified from the test. When the candidate gets the question paper, it must be made sure that the question paper is in right condition. In case of any issues, the matter should be immediately brought to the notice of the invigilator who distributed the question paper.

The question paper contains four sections. Each section contains items/questions. The candidate must read the directions given for each section of the test carefully. If he/she skips the directions, he/she may miss the main idea and lose credit for some questions in that section.

Candidates should put their pencils down when the invigilator asks them to, else they may be disqualified. After the test is over, candidates should remain seated until the invigilator collects the answer sheets and question papers. The candidate will be allowed to leave the hall only after the answer sheets and question papers of all the candidates in the examination hall have been collected and accounted for.
