NLSIU B.A., LL.B (Hons.) Admission 2012
National Law School India University (NLSIU) admits students to its BA LLB program through CLAT. The NLSIU provides all sorts of generalized facility to the candidates. At present situation, most of the very good students of this university are placed all over the world.
National Law School India University is the first and one of the 12 national law universities in India. It was established by the initiatives of Karnataka Government, the Bangalore University and the initiatives of senior members of the Bar Council of India as well as that of Karnataka State Bar Council. It was finally established through National Law School of India Act (Karnataka Act 22 of 1986).
The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) admission 2011 shall be based exclusively on the performance in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
Eligibility for B.A.,LL.B. (Hons):
To be eligible for admission, a candidate should have passed the Higher Secondary School / Intermediate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in aggregate (45% in case of SC / ST / OBC and persons with disability) in the first attempt and shouldbe below 20 years of age as on 1st Week of July (22 years in case of SC / ST and persons with disability).
Candidates appearing or awaiting result of the qualifying examination can also appear in the test on condition that they produce proof of having passed the qualifying exam at the time of formal interviews.
Those who do not clear the qualifying examination with the requisite marks are not eligible for admission. Candidates whose marks statement of the qualifying examination is not available at the time of formal interviews, are not eligible for admission.
The University reserves the right to cancel the admission of any candidate in accordance with rules.
Application Form:
Since the admission to NLSIU is through CLAT, candidates need to apply for CLAT. Candidates can get the form of CLAT through designated branches of Indian Bank, State bank of India and all participating National Law Schools. Candidates can also download the form through the website www.clat.ac.in. One can also get the forms of CLAT through the CLAT office by post by sending a demand draft along with the request for form.
CLAT 2011 Important Dates:
- Publication of advertisement in leading English/Hindi national daily Newspapers. 1st week of January, 2011
- Last week of February, 2011 Issue of application forms from all CLAT -2011 participating universities and specified branches of Indian Post Offices from – 11 January, 2011 (Tuesday)
- Last Date for submission of filled-in entrance examination application forms – 2 April 2011 (Saturday)
- Issue of Hall Tickets to the candidates from – 12 April, 2011 (Tuesday)
- Date of Admissions test for UG/PG – 15 May 2011 (Sunday) (3.00 P.M. – 5.00 P.M)
- Publication of result – 28 May 2011 (Saturday)
- Completion of admission process – 28 June, 2011 (Tuesday)
- Last date of acceptance and confirmation of interest in admission by depositing money in bank – To be notified later
- Commencement of classes – 1 July, 2011 (Friday)
Intake and Reservation:
At present, The intake capacity of B.A..LL.B. (Hons.) degree programme shall be 80 with the following break up:
(a) General Category: 55
(b) Scheduled Caste: 12 (i.e. 15%)
(c) Scheduled Tribe: 6 (i.e. 7.5%)
(d) Persons With Disability (PWD): 2 (i.e. 3%)
(e) Foreign Nationals: 5
Foreign students will be admitted directly on the basis of their performance in the qualifying examination, overall academic record and command over English language.
Preference will be given to the candidates from SAARC countries. Foreign students must apply directly in the CLAT application form with supporting documents to the following addresses on or before the closing date.
