NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY DELHI ADMISSION NOTIFICATION 2012-2013
Last Date for receipt of Application Form: April 9, 2012.
The NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, DELHI established in 2008 by Act No. 1 of 2008 is premier Law University established in the capital city of India. The University invites applications for B.A.,LL.B.(Hons.), LL.M. and Ph.D. Programmes for the academic year 2012-13 commencing from August, 2012.
1. B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) - 5 Years
Eligibility: Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2 System) or equivalent Examination with 50% of marks. The candidates appearing in the 12th standard examination in March/April, 2012 can also apply.
Age: Below 21 years as on 1 July, 2012 (23 years in case of SC/ST candidates).
Total Seats: 80 [70 seats on merit through All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) and 10 seats for direct admission to Foreign Nationals on merit]. Foreign Nationals to be eligible should have 65% marks in the qualifying examination.
Reservation: 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and 3% for Persons with Disabilities.
Note: One additional seat for Kashmiri Migrants after approval from Governing Council of the University. The candidates have to apply, appear in the Entrance Test and fulfill the eligibility criteria as applicable.
2. LL.M.
Eligibility: LL.B. or an equivalent Degree with 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disability). The candidates appearing in final LL.B. examination in April/May, 2012 can also apply.
Total Seats: 20 + 5 seats for Foreign Nationals. Foreign Nationals are exempted from Entrance Test.
Reservation: 15% for SC Candidates, 7.5% for ST Candidates, 3% for Persons with Disabilities.
3. Ph.D.
Eligibility: LL.M. Degree with 55% marks or its equivalent (50% in case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disability).
Admission to B.A., LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M. and Ph.D. Programmes will be through AILET to be conducted at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Patna on May 6, 2012 (Sunday).
AILET 2012 Test Centres:
Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Patna.
Interested candidates may apply along with a Demand Draft of Rs.2,500/- (Rupees Two Thousand Five Hundred Only) for General Candidates, Rs.1,000/- (Rupees One thousand only) in case of SC/ST and Persons with Disability (PD) drawn in favour of "REGISTRAR, NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, DELHI", payable at Delhi along with copies of requisite Caste/PD Certificate. Below Poverty Line (BPL) applicants of SC/ST category are exempted from application fee.

Applications complete in all respects must be sent in person or by post, to the REGISTRAR, NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, DELHI, Sector - 14, Dwarka, New Delhi - 110078, on or before April 9, 2012. Applications received after the last date shall not be entertained. The University will not be responsible for any postal/courier delay.

Total Marks: 150
Total number of questions: 150
Duration of the Examination: 1 hour 30 minutes
Subject areas & marks distribution (Exam Pattern):
English: 35 Marks
General Knowledge (Current Affairs, General Science, History, Geography, Economics, Civics): 35 Marks
Legal Aptitude: 35 Marks
Reasoning: 35 Marks
Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability): 10 Marks
AILET Previous Question Papers:
AILET Previous Question Papers Booklet can be collected by depositing cash of Rs.500/- (2008-2011) from the office of the National Law University, Delhi or by sending a DD of Rs.550/- in favour of "Registrar, National Law University, Delhi" payable at Delhi.
Timing of AILET 2012: 3.00 pm to 4.30 pm on May 6, 2012.
Note:
(i) The candidate shall secure minimum of 40% (30% for SC and ST candidates) of the total marks in the AILET to become eligible for the admission. The University reserves the right to keep the seats vacant if there are no candidates who secured minimum cut off marks.
(ii) If two or more candidates secure the same percentage of marks in the AILET, their merit will be determined in the following manner and order; (1) On the basis of Percentage of marks in the Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2 System) / Higher Secondary School or its equivalent recognized by the University (2) On the basis of Percentage of marks in the X standard (3) Elder in age will be preferred (4) Draw of Lots.
(iii) At least 30% of the total seats shall be filled by eligible horizontal reservation for women candidates including those selected in reserved and foreign national categories.
Scholarship:
The needy students will be provided need-based scholarship financial assistance to pursue their studies at the University. Under the Scheme, the students awarded scholarship/need-based financial assistance of any kind shall have to repay the said amount to the University (without interest) within 2 years of the completion of the course. The students will execute a bond to that effect.
