The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu by an Act of State Legislature. It was inaugurated by His Excellency Thiru K.R. Narayanan, President of India on September 20th 1997. The University started functioning from 03.10.1997
Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU) conducts an admission process for admission to its 5 year B.A.B.L course. Candidates are selected on the basis of their performance in their class 12th exams. This university is known to provide quality education to its students.
The University is situated in Chennai though other than Chennai it has affiliated Government Law colleges in 5 other cities. A large number of candidates from across Tamil Nadu appear for the entrance exam for getting admission in these colleges. There are over 1000 seats in all these colleges for B. A. B. L. course.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Separate application forms should be obtained for each course
The request letter for application forms should contain the name of the candidates and the course for which the application is sought for (viz., B.A.,B.L (Hons.), B.L (Hons.), M.L., P.G. Diploma, Certificate course, B.A.,B.L and B.L degree courses).
Application form for all the courses can be obtained in person or by post from the office of the university on a written request along with the demand draft towards the cost of application form including registration, drawn in favour of “The Registrar, The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai”, payable at Chennai.
SC/ST candidates to avail concession on the cost of application forms, shall submit a copy of their community certificate along with their written request.
Applications can also be obtained by cash for the courses offered in the university campus like B.A.,B.L (Hons.), B.L (Hons.), M.L., P.G. Diploma and Certificate course.
Application forms shall be sent by post or courier. However the University will not take any responsibility for postal delay. Filled in applications should reach the admission committee on or before the last date prescribed.
The applications received after the due date will be summarily rejected.
Application forms to 5 year B.A.,B.L./3 year B.L. degree course can also be obtained in person at the following affiliated Government law colleges in Tamil Nadu with a written request along with the demand draft.

Eligibility:
A Complete pass in the Higher Secondary (+2) or Equivalent Examination with not less than 45% of marks in aggregate. However, for the purpose of selection and admission marks obtained in the subjects excluding languages shall alone be taken into consideration.
In the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST communities, 40% of marks in aggregate.
Employed candidates are not eligible to apply.
Age limit for TNDALU Admission: A candidate should not have completed 20 years of age as on 1st June 2011, that is the candidate must have born on or after 01.06.1991. In case of candidates belonging to SC/ST communities the mazimum age limit is 22 years that is the candidate must have born on or after 01.06.1989.
The applicants who have obtained 10+2 or Graduation/Post Graduation through Open University system directly without having any basic qualification are not eligible for admission in the law courses.

Application forms will not be received after the last date prescribed for submission. Any postal delay will not be taken into account. If candidates choose to send their filled application forms by post, they are advised to send them well in advance.
Note: Along with the application form, one empty window cover is provided. The candidates have to affix postage stamp worth Rupee 5/- on the cover and send it along with the application without fail. Address should not be written on the cover.
Application form for SC/ST candidates: The application forms issued for the SC/ST candidates should be used only by the SC/ ST candidates, if it is used by candidates belonging to other communities, such applications will be summarily rejected.
Availing fee concessions for the application form in case of SC/ST candidates: SC/ST candidates should enclose a xerox copy of the community certificate along with the requisition in order to avail the fee concession for application form.
