AMU MBA Entrance Examination 2012:
Aligarh Muslim University Combined Admission Test (AMU CAT) is for admission to MBA (International Business)/PG Diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance courses of Aligarh Muslim University. It holds entrance examinations for its different courses separately every year. Entrance to all the three management courses is through a common entrance test conducted by Aligarh Muslim University. Students need to secure high marks in this exam in order to get admission in interested course.
Candidates are required to submit only one AMU MBA Application Form 2012 even if they wish to be considered for admission to more than one of these courses. They should clearly indicate in their Aligarh Muslim University Application Forms their choices in order of preference.

Admission shall be granted to the MBA / MBA (IB) / PG Diploma a in Islamic Banking and Finance Courses on the basis of the performance in the AMU MBA Written Admission Test, Interview / Aptitude Assessment and Group Discussion.
Candidates shall be called for Interview / Aptitude Assessment and Group Discussion on the basis of the performance in the Test.
For the candidates who qualify Aligarh Muslim University written test, appearing in Interview / Group Discussion is compulsory to become eligible for admission, if offered.
Course of Study:
1. Master of Business Administration (MBA): 4 Semesters
2. Master of Business Administration (MBA) International Business (IB): 4 Semesters
3. PG Diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance: 2 Semesters
Qualification: Bachelors degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
Selection Process:
Through Admission Test comprising of written test and Interview / Aptitude Assessment / Group Discussion. Candidates shall be called for Interview / Aptitude Assessment / Group Discussion on the basis of the performance in the written test. For the candidates who qualify written test, physical presence in the Interview / Aptitude Assessment / Group Discussion is compulsory to become eligible for selection.
Test Paper Details:
There shall be one objective type paper of 200 marks comprising 200 questions on (i) Environmental Awareness (ii) Numerical Ability (iii) Comprehension (iv) Reasoning & Intelligence (v) Data Interpretation
Additional Information:
There shall be a Combined Admission Test for admission to MBA, MBA (IB) and PG Diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance. Candidates applying for MBA can also apply for admission to MBA (IB) / PG Diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance on the same Application Form without paying any additional Admission Test Fee. However, they should clearly indicate their choices, in order of preference, in the Application Form.

Instructions for Filling in the Application Form:
1. Candidates must have the Cash receipt/Demand Draft of requisite amount in favour of Finance Officer, AMU, Payable at Aligarh with him as candidates are barred to proceed further without filling up the Test Fee/Processing Charges Column. The Drafts should preferably be from the Nationalized Banks.
2. Candidates must fill in all the columns on the online Application Form with extreme care. However you will be allowed to review/edit the entries made on the Form on clicking the 'Proceed' button but it is the responsibility of the candidates that the final/correct printout of the Form must reach the Admission Section, AMU on or before the last date.
3. If any error/ discrepancy is found after the printing of generated PDF copy of Form, the candidate should not correct it. Instead new Application Form be filled in again with the same DD/CR details and only the 100% correct PDF copy be sent to the University. We will accept that copy of the Form which is accompanied by the DD/CR; rest of the online data will not be considered. Please note down the Transaction ID of the correct PDF copy for future reference.
4. The candidate, after his/her online Form submission, will be allotted a Transaction ID & password that will be shown to him/her on the screen and the same will be mailed to the email ID he/she has mentioned in the Application Form. Howsoever, he/she may note it down for his/her convenience. He/she may also open/save the PDF file by clicking the link shown on the screen below the username & password.
5. The candidate is required to send the duly filled in Application Form/printout of the generated PDF File to Deputy Controller (Admission Section), Controller’s Office, AMU, Aligarh – 202002 on or before the last date. Before sending the Printout of the Form to the Admission Section, the candidate must ensure that he/she has:
i. Affixed his/her recent photograph on the Form on the required places
ii. Put his/her thumb impression and Signature in the boxes provided for the purpose
iii. Appended the Signature after going through the declaration
iv. Attached the DD/C.R. and all the required documents (High school certificate Marksheets etc.) with the Application Form
v. Written his/her Name, Father's name & Course name & Transaction ID at the back of the Draft
vi. Attached No Objection Certificate from the employer, if employed
vii. Attached attested Certificate in support of special categories

7. Application Forms received after the last date of submission/ without requisite fee/ Demand Draft NOT drawn in favour of Finance Officer, AMU, Aligarh/ not supported with the relevant certificates/documents will be summarily rejected. The University shall not be held responsible for any postal delay.
8. All photographs must be identical, snapped with front profile showing full head, face, shoulder and with both ears and taken without wearing any Cap/Hat/Sunglasses. Photograph must have been taken not earlier than 3 months.
Syllabus:
A. Environmental Awarness:
Objective: To test candidates’ awareness of the developments in the political, social, technological and economic environments both in the Indian and International contexts.
Contents: Characteristics of Indian economy, basic economic indicators, industrial, trade, fiscal, budgetary and monetary policies, Indian banking system and its functioning, awareness about corporate sector, Indian and international trade, economic agreements, changes in political, technological and cultural environments.
B. Comprehension and Verbal Ability:
Objective: To test a candidate’s skill of quick comprehension and verbal ability – both of which reflect a person’s ability to understand facts faster than his/her peers and also his/her skill in organising thoughts and expressing them in a clear manner.
Contents: Comprehension at paragraph and sentence level, identification of mistakes; grammar and usage; Vocabulary – word formation, synonyms, antonyms, pairing of words, analogies, sentence structure and construction, active and passive voice, prepositions, completion of sentences, etc.
C. Quantitative and Numerical Ability:
Objective: To judge candidates’ ability to use the fundamental and standard procedure in arithmetic, algebra, geometry and other branches of mathematics and to ascertain logical thinking, accuracy and speed in applying the basic skills of mathematics.
Contents: Elementary Arithmetic – percentage, ratio, proportion time and distance, relative speed, time and work, interest, stocks, shares and discount, rules of divisibility, HCF and LCM, power, exponents and roots; Elementary algebra – algebraic equations; Elementary geometry – angle, line, polygon, solids, cylinders, perimeter, volume, circles, tangent to circle, sphere, etc.; linear and quadratic equations; Basics of trigonometry and coordinate geometry.
D. Reasoning and Intelligence:
Objective: To assess the logical and reasoning capabilities of the candidate i.e. the ability to comprehend, evaluate, and deduce in a logical manner.
Contents: This may include verbal reasoning and verbal analogy, letter series, number series, coding and decoding, logical diagrams, and syllogism, etc.
E. Analysis and Interpretation of Data:
Objective: To test the ability to interpret a given set of data for decision making or similar applications. It assess the awareness of methods used in representing data and various techniques in analysis and interpretation of data.
Contents: Sets – Union and intersection; frequency and class intervals, cumulative frequencies, and various types of graphic diagrams used in interpretation; Basic of probability; and Permutation and combination.
