Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), University of Delhi, has been a pioneer and a leader in the field of management education in India. Started in 1954, FMS today offers several programmes from the North campus and the South Campus facilities of the University of Delhi. In response to the changing needs of the industry, in particular, FMS has always taken the initiative to develop new programmes and constantly update the curriculum and teaching pedagogy. FMS enjoys the privilege of being a part of the University of Delhi, thereby bound by the academic rigour and administrative standards set for admission, curriculum preparation, teaching and examination processes. Highly accomplished teaching faculty engaged in continuous research, training, consulting and publication adds immense value to the academic life at FMS.

Apart from the regular class room inputs provided through the four-semester system of the two year (Full Time) programmes and the six-semester system of the three year (Part Time) programmes, FMS maintains close interface with the corporate world. Experienced leaders of the corporate world, including several of the accomplished alumni of FMS, visit FMS on a regular basis to share their knowledge with the students, while the students undertake several practical projects to enrich the class room learning. To supplement the strong focus on theoretical foundation and conceptual learning, students are encouraged to take leadership initiatives by organising seminars, workshops and extra-curricular activities. FMS has an enviable placement process which brings the most reputed companies to the campus. We are proud of the track record of our alumni who stand tall in many walks of life.

FMS is seeking applications to the two-year full time MBA programme, three-year MBA (Part Time) programme for working executives, three-year (Part Time) MBA in Health Care Administration for medical professionals with MBBS degrees, and to the Ph.D. programme.

Two Year MBA (Fulltime) Programme:

Course Structure:

MBA (FT) has a course structure which is closely aligned with the business requirements in today's scenario. The focus of the course is on producing fundamentally sound managers who are ready to hit the ground running when they enter the corporate world. The first year of the course concentrates on imparting management fundamentals like Human Resources, Organisational Effectiveness & Change, Marketing Management, Financial Management, Quantitative Methods, Computer Applications in Management etc. so that you are introduced to the technical, economic, social and human side of management.

The Second year builds on these fundamentals and requires you to focus on your specializations by taking courses in the areas of marketing, finance, systems, operations and human resources. Along with these specialization courses, you get to study business strategy courses which focus on skills that enable managers to diagnose complex business situations and resolve strategic and organizational problems. These courses are supplemented by business simulation game that reinforces the classroom teachings and gives hands-on experience to the participants. In addition to these courses, you can opt for non-credit courses in each semester subject to the approval of the programme coordinator.The classroom sessions are supplemented by corporate sessions, guest lectures,field sessions, live projects, workshops and many such activities which ensure that the participant remains in touch with the corporate environment and learns the practical applications of the acquired knowledge.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Candidates applying for admission to the first year of MBA (Full-Time) Programme must have pursued at least a 3-year Bachelor’s Degree Programme after 12 years of formal schooling in any of the following disciplines. The minimum requisite percentage of marks in different disciplines is as follows :-

Arts, Commerce or Social Sciences - 50%
Sciences - 55%
Mathematics or Statistics - 60%
Medicine, Engineering or Technology - 60% / CGPA of at least 6.00 in a scale of 10.00
OR
Post Graduate Degree or 2nd Degree examination after 10+2+3 scheme, securing at least 60% marks.
Note : Candidates appearing for the final examination of Bachelor’s / Post Graduate Degree examinations may also apply.

2. There is no reservation whatsoever for the graduates of Delhi university or the residents of Delhi.

Selection Procedure:

Applications for admission to various programmes are invited through advertisements in major national newspapers in September/October every year. Application forms are distributed to interested candidates on payment of the application fees. The filled-in application forms are to be sent to the Administrative Officer, Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007 for further processing. Eligible candidates are be called for a written test and/or an interview.

The eligible applicants will be called for a written test, and on the basis of their performance in the test, they will be called for an interview, an ex-tempore and a group discussion. The candidates will be required to produce their original certificates and mark-sheets at the time of the interview. The final list of candidates selected to the program will be announced after conducting all the interviews.

Fee Structure:

The fee payable at the time of admission is Rs. 10, 450/-.

Ph.D. Programme:

Eligibility Criteria:


To be eligible for admission to the PhD programme, a candidate must have obtained a Master’s/ M. Phil degree of the University of Delhi, or any other recognized University, or any postgraduate degree in an allied subject recognized as equivalent in the subject in which the candidate wishes to pursue a course of research. She/ he must have obtained either a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade in the M.Phil degree or a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in the Master’s degree.

Candidates with four year or more than four year Bachelor degree viz. B.Tech or M.B.B.S and with 70% and 60% marks or equivalent grades respectively, who have obtained any national level fellowships are also eligible to apply.

Selection Procedure:

Candidates (except those exempted from admission test) seeking admission to the doctoral programme, are required to take the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2011 conducted by Indian Institute of Management during October 22, 2011 to November 18, 2011. Short listed candidates will thereafter be required to submit the form of the Board of Research Studies (Management) at the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, latest by 31 January, 2012.

Foreign Nationals:

All Foreign nationals seeking admission to PhD (Management) should apply though the office of the Dy. Dean (Foreign Students). Hard copies of the Foreign Students Registry Form along with the requested documents should be sent to Dy. Dean (Foreign Students), Foreign Students Registry Office, C/O Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, Delhi – 110 007 (India). There is no NRI/ PIO quota.

Foreign Nationals studying in India are required to write the Entrance Test and appear for the interview, if shortlisted.

Foreign Nationals with Indian degrees (but are not currently staying in India) are required to submit GMAT scores (minimum score of 650) and Foreign Nationals with foreign degrees are advised to submit GMAT and TOEFL scores. They are, however, required to submit a research proposal, clearly indicating the research objective, methodology and a tentative bibliography.

All foreign nationals will also be required to fill the form of the Board of Research Studies (Management), if selected for PhD programme. The BRS (Management) form should be accompanied with a DD of Rs. 250/- in favor of The Registrar, University of Delhi.

If selected for admission to PhD (Management), admission will be granted only after the candidate arrives with a valid Research Visa and registers with the Foreign Students Registry office, University of Delhi.

FMS 2012 Reservation of Seats/Categories:

1. General - Open or Unreserved Category
2. SC - Scheduled Caste
3. ST - Scheduled Tribe
4. OBC - Other Backward Class – Non Creamy Layer

Note: For OBC Candidates

Caste should be listed in the central list for OBC
Creamy Layer OBC Candidates should apply as General category candidates.

5. PH1 - Visually Challenged
6. PH2 - Auditory Challenged
7. PH3 - Orthopedic Challenged
8. CW1 - Widows/Wards of Defense Personnel killed in action
9. CW2 - Wards of Servicing Personnel and Ex-Servicemen disabled in action
10. CW3 - Widows/Wards of Defense Personnel who died in Peace Time with death attributable to Military Service.
11. CW4 - Wards of Defense Personnel disabled in Peace Time with disability attributable to Military Service
12. CW5 - Wards of Ex-Servicemen and Service Personnel including Police Personnel who are in receipt of Gallantry Awards.

FMS Online Application Process 2012:

e-registration is the online registration system for admission to MBA (Two-Year Full-Time) and Ph.D (Management) Programs offered by The Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi.

Admission to MBA (Two-Year Full-Time) and Ph.D (Management) will be based on CAT-2011 Score (Common Admission Test conducted by Indian Institute of Management from October 22, 2011 to November 18, 2011), Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Candidates may visit www.catiim.in to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT)-2011. Applicants who have not taken CAT-2011 will not be considered for admission. At least 50 percentile score on each section of the CAT-2011 Examination is required by a candidate to be short-listed for a Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

The Candidate will be required to produce their certificates and mark sheets in original, at the time of interview.

Pre-requisites for Applying Online:

1. A candidate needs to have access to a computer with printer and a CAT-2011 Registration Number.

2. Payment of Registration fee can be made by choosing any one of the mode given below.

a. Registration Fee can be paid by a crossed Demand Draft (Please keep your DD ready at the time of online registration.

b. Registration Fee can be paid through the Internet Payment Gateway of the HDFC Bank by your credit card/ debit card.

Candidates belonging to categories other than SC/ST/PH are required to pay a Registration Fee of Rs. 750/- and candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH are required to pay a Registration Fee Rs. 200/- for applying to each program.

3. Candidates who wish to apply for both MBA (Two-Year Full-Time) and Ph.D (Management) programs can do so by opting for both the options while filling the Online Form.

4. Those paying through Demand Draft (DD) may please note that one single DD of the required amount is to be made from a scheduled/Nationalized bank in favour of ‘The Registrar, University of Delhi’ payable at Delhi.

5. You have the option to upload your photograph, signature and Left Thumb Impression (LTI) in JPEG or JPG format. If not, candidates may choose to affix your passport-size colour photograph, signature and Left Thumb Impression (LTI) in the space provided on the printed Acknowledgment Form.

6. Candidates belonging to reserved categories should send self-attested photocopies of caste/category certificates along with the printed Acknowledgement Form.

Advantages of applying online (e-registration):

By registering through e-registration, your application details reach us instantly. You only have to send printed version of the Acknowledgement Form along with enclosures, to The Assistant Registrar, Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007, on or before 30th November 2011.

A receipt of the acknowledgement will be sent to your e-mail ID provided while registering online.

You can view the status of your application by using your e-mail ID as your Login ID and a password chosen by you.

e-registration will also prompt if you skip any mandatory fields, thus minimizing the chances of your application getting rejected.

Points to Remember:

All candidates will have to register using Online Registration System only.
Applicants have to appear for the CAT-2011 Examination conducted by IIMs.

Your Acknowledgement Form should be printed and accompanied by a DD (if payment mode is DD) for the requisite registration fee, caste/category certificate (if applicable) and an additional passport-size colour photograph.

There will be no other mode of registration for admission to FMS, Delhi.
