IISWBM, Kolkata is one of the Premier Management Educational Institutes in Eastern India. The precious journey of the Institute commenced on April 25, 1953 when it was formed by a resolution of the Syndicate of the University of Calcutta. The auspicious moment of fifty years of its existence arrived on April 25, 2003 and remains as a landmark in the history of the Institute. During the initial years, the Institute was referred to as All India Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management and in the year 1958 the name IISWBM was incorporated. This esteemed Institute initiated the first programme of management education in India. The Golden Jubilee Celebrations of IISWBM heralds the legacy of the treasured 50 years which is full of unforgettable moments. The fifty years of management education in India epitomises the prestigious presence of IISWBM.
MBA:
IISWBM conducts Master's Degree programmes of Calcutta University in Business Administration in the day (full-time) and evening (part-time) sessions. Students of full-time MBA are admitted through the Common Admission Test (CAT) jointly held with IIMs.
Structure of the MBA(Day) programme:
There are 16 Compulsory papers in the First year followed by the Summer project in between the First year and Second year. In the Second year there are 4 Compulsory papers and 9 Optional papers of which 6 papers are in the Major area of specialisation and 3 papers are in the Minor area of specialisation, followed by the dissertation.
Admission Procedure: The admission form may be obtained for all courses:
- From the counter.
- By downloading the form from the site and sending it along with a demand draft drawn for the exact amount in favour of IISWBM payable at Kolkata, or Through post by sending a demand draft of the correct amount drawn in favour of IISWBM.
- Fees once paid will only be refunded as per norms laid down by AICTE.
Duration: 2 years full time
Minimum Qualification:
The minimum qualification for admission to the course is a Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3 system) with Honours in Arts / Science / Commerce / Business Administration or Bachelor's Degree(10+2+4 system) in Engineering / Technology / Medical Science / Law/ Professional Courses /or its equivalent from any University recognized by the University of Calcutta.
Admission Test:
- CAT in November
- Result will be published as soon as CAT score is received by the Institute
- GD/Interview in March
- Publication of final list of selected candidates for admission by 3rd week of March
- Course Begins: 1st week of July
- Last date of submission of fees is by 1st week of May
- Cost of Brochure and Admission forms: Rs.1200 by cash and Rs.1300 by post

Advertisement: August last week 2010
Last date of Issue & receipt of Application Form: 2nd week of December 2011
CAT Result: 3rd week of January 2011

Final Result: 3rd week of March 2011
Class begins: 1st week of July 2011
Class Hours: 10.30 a.m. to 05.30 p.m
CURRICULUM:
IISWBM conducts Master’s Degree programmes of Calcutta University in Business Administration in Day (full-time) and Evening sessions. The applicants for the admission to the MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION course shall be required to undergo UGC specified national entrance tests like CAT, MAT, XAT, JEMAT.
The minimum qualification for admission to the course is a Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3 system)with Honours in Arts / Science / Commerce / Business Administration or Bachelor's Degree(10+2+4 system) in Engineering / Technology / Medical Science / Law/ Professional Courses /or its equivalent from any University recognized by the University of Calcutta.
The candidates short-listed on the basis of certain cut-off marks in the above mentioned selection test shall be required to appear for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
Admission of reserved categories students may be admitted as per existing University rules and regulations, if the test is conducted by the University/constituent colleges.
Students admitted to the two-year/three year MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION course shall pursue the regular courses of lectures, and other academic arrangements made for the two-year/three year academic term.
GROUP DISCUSSION AND PERSONAL INTERVIEW:
The undermentioned documents will be required at the time of interview:
i) Original and a photocopy each of CAT admit card and score card
ii) Original and a photocopy each of School Final, Higher Secondary and Bachelor’s Degree Certificate (with honours)
iii) Original and photocopy each of the Mark-Sheet of the Examination mentioned in (ii) above. In case where mark-sheet only indicates grade, the correct transcripts or Grade equivalence, duly certified by the institution last attended, should be procured for submission.
iv) Original and photocopy of SC/ST certificate (for students in SC/ST category), or, original and photocopy of Physically Handicapped certificate ( for students in PH Category).
List of selected candidates will be displayed on the Institute’s Notice Board and the website www.iiswbm.edu tentatively by 4 p.m. of 25th March 2011.All selected candidates will be also informed individually.
Schedule for payment of admission fees and commencement of the course will be mentioned in the selection letter and displayed on the Institute’s website.
