Kerala University Common Admission Test 2012 for Admission to MBA and MBA (Tourism) Full Time
University of Kerala invites applications in the prescribed format from the prospective candidates for admission to MBA (Full Time) & MBA (Tourism Full Time) through Kerala University Common Admission Test 2012 (KU CAT 2012).
MBA, MBA (Tourism): Kerala University Institute of Management in Kerala (IMK) has invited applications for admission to the two year full-time (4 semesters), MBA/MBA Tourism.

Note : Kerala University reserves the right to remove any centre if there are no adequate numbers of candidates appearing at the centre.

1. MBA Programme (Full Time)
The MBA course curriculum is designed to give students an extensive understanding of the nuances of various management disciplines. Spread over 2 years (4 semesters), the programme specifically aims at imparting the students the state of-the-art knowledge of the concepts and techniques of management, developing the ability to comprehend the environment and acquire analytical decision-making and fostering a novel approach to work.
Emphasis is laid on self development through various personality development programmes like simulation exercises, role-plays, case analysis, group works etc. The students are also equipped with a holistic outlook towards life based on ethical values and social responsibilities.

Eligibility: Candidates who have obtained at least 50% for graduation are eligible to apply for the entrance test. Selection is on the basis of qualifying in the Entrance test followed by Group Discussion and Interview.
Applications for the entrance test will be invited called of during Janurary-Februrary every year. Kerala University Common Admission Test, GD, Interview will be held durning April- May every Year .Course commences every year in the month of June.
2. MBA (Evening Programme)
The institute offers an MBA Evening programme having duration of six semesters. The course is tailor- made for working professionals who would like to add an MBA to their qualification. Classes are scheduled between 5.30pm to 8.30pm on all working days. Eminent academicians and professionals from the industry are involved in the pedagogy. Selection is on the basis of an entrance exam conducted by the University of Kerala followed by group discussion and interview.
Eligibility: Candidates who have obtained at least 50% for graduation and having work experience of two years after graduation are eligible to apply for the entrance test. Applications for the entrance test will be invited during September-October every year. Course commences every year in the month of December.
KU CAT 2012 Eligibility:
i. Any student who has passed degree from any Indian Universities under the regular stream recognised by the University of Kerala and shall be in 10+2+3 pattern (or in 10+2+4).
ii. In all the cases the student should have passed the degree examination with not less than 50% marks in Part III marks (without approximation, that is 49.999% is not eligible since it is less than 50%) in BA, B.Sc, B.Com etc., and 50% marks in aggregate in case of B.Tech, B.Sc (Agri) and other 4 / 5 year degree courses is eligible for admission.
iii. SC / ST candidates shall be given relaxation as per University rules.
iv. The students who are appearing for their final year/final semester degree examination are also eligible to apply.

Prescribed application forms along with brochure can be downloaded from the websites: www.imk.ac.in and www.keralauniversity.ac.in.
The filled in application form should accompany the D.D. for Rs. 510 in favour of “The Finance Officer, University of Kerala” drawn from SBT payable at KUOC campus or from Cooperative banks payable at Trivandrum / Chalan of Rs. 500/- payable at University cash counter for application fee and also the copies of Income Certificate or B.P.L. Certificate and Community Certificate issued by the Competent Authority.
The reservation for SC candidates is 15% and that of ST candidates it is 5%.
In the case of candidates belonging to Backward classes they are eligible for 20% reservation as per G.O (M.S) No.107 / 08 / H.Edn dated 20.09.2008 (Ezhava – 8%, Muslim – 7%, LC / SIUC – 1%, OBC Christian – 1%, OBC Hindu – 3%) and in the case of candidates belonging to Forward Communities the 7.5% reservation as per G.O.(M.S) No.108 / 2008 / H.Edn dated 20.09.2008 who have to submit copy of the B.P.L. certificate issued by the Village Officer.

Admission Process: All the candidates who wrote the entrance examination will be invited to participate in the Group Discussion and Interview to be held at the last week of April 2012 at Trivandrum, Adoor and Alappuzha. Rank list for admission to the MBA programme will be finalized on the basis of the score obtained in the Entrance Test (70% weightage), Group Discussion (15% weightage) and Interview (15 % weightage) which will be published in the last week of May 2012.
KUCAT 2012 Counselling Schedule: The counseling for KU CAT admission will be held on 22nd June 2012 and 23rd June, 2012 at 9.30 A.M. and the following procedure will be undertaken
IMK Palayam MBA (General – 40 seats) will be filled first. (20 in the merit and 20 in the reservation category) on the first day of counseling.
Next day of counseling, 220 seats of Merit category and the subsequent 220 seats in reservation category will be completed for Extension centres (including Tourism at Palayam).
In the case of absence of SC / ST candidates, the same will be filled by OEC and subsequently by OBC candidates and finally by Open candidates.
Candidates passed degree or Masters Degree of other Universities should produce the Eligibility Certificate issued by the University of Kerala (Course Equivalency Certificate) at the time of admission.
It is mandatory that the candidate produces eligibility certificate at the time of counseling otherwise the candidate will not be considered for admission.
Note: Candidates who are waiting for the results of the final semester/ year of the qualifying examinations shall be admitted provisionally on condition that they shall produce the marklists/ eligibility certificate etc before 31st July, 2012 showing that they have secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate for Part III Optional Subjects.
