NMAT is the MBA entrance exam for admissions to Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Mumbai. The NMAT is designed on a multiple-choice question format that includes Language Skills; Quantitative Skills, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency and Logical Reasoning.
Candidates will get admission if they meet the required standards of a two-stage selection process. All eligible candidates are required to appear for the computer based NMAT to be conducted across the country. Short listed candidates will have to appear for group discussion and personal interview which will be held in Mumbai only.

How is NMAT Designed?
The NMAT is of 120 minutes and will consist of multiple choice questions where the candidate needs to select one of the correct answers. The sections in the NMAT-2012 are Language Skills; Quantitative Skills, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency; and Logical Reasoning. In NMAT-2012, each of the three sections are individually timed and candidates can choose the section sequence.
NMAT Eligibility Criteria:
The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in aggregate from any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
All candidates who complete the test registration, pay the test fee within the time specified and follow the published test rules, may sit for the NMAT. It is the responsibility of the candidate to understand the eligibility requirements of NMIMS before deciding to register for the NMAT. If a candidate registers for the test and then determines that they are not eligible for admission to NMIMS or its programs, no request for registration- fee refund will be entertained.

The Following Criteria are Common to All Programmes:
i. Candidates appearing for their graduation examination can also apply but their admission to the Programmes will be subject to obtaining the required minimum cut off marks and also producing all the necessary documents, in original, within the given stipulated time.
ii. Those candidates who have passed, or, have appeared for graduation examination from a University where Grade Point Average is given, such candidates must produce in writing from the University concerned about the equivalent percentage for the GPA/CGPA obtained.
iii. The candidate must hold a Bachelor's Degree in the first attempt, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in aggregate from any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
iv. It is sole responsibility of the candidates to ascertain whether they possess the necessary and requisite qualification for the admission at NMIMS.
v. If at any stage, it is found that a candidate does not satisfy the eligibility criteria or the information furnished by him/ her in the online registration is incorrect, his/her application for the admission to the Programme, even if selected, will stand cancelled. Candidates appearing for NMAT, Group Discussion & Personal Interview will do so at their own risk, eventually, forfeiting their admission for want of meeting the eligibility criteria.
vi. NMIMS reserves the right to alter the terms of eligibility without intimation to the applicants.

Pearson VUE will carry out the online registration & will conduct NMAT on behalf of NMIMS. Interested candidates have to visit the NMIMS website for online registration. For appearing for NMAT online application has to be duly submitted & payment of registration charges need to be made in any of the prescribed mode within stipulated time.
Candidates can apply for more than one Programme / Campus as per his / her eligibility by giving preferences.
The preferences once given cannot be changed later on.
Note : There will be three radio buttons for registration i.e MBA (Full Time), PGDM & Both (FT MBA & PGBM). A candidate who wishes to apply for more than one Campuses has to select the third option of Both and has to pay registration charges as per the above table.
The Registration charges for NMAT 2012 will be as follows:

The mode of payment will be as under:

All those who register successfully will be called for the test, provided they satisfy conditions of eligibility. It is the responsibility of the candidate to check that he/she is eligible as per the eligibility criteria stated above.
NMAT Modes of Payment:
the test fee is INR 1650 if a candidate chooses to opt for one program and INR 2000 if the candidate opts for both the programs. Candidates can pay for the registration via demand draft, debit or credit card or can deposit cash at designated
AXIS bank branches.

NMAT 2012 Test Date:
The exam will be conducted in the testing window
from October 31, 2011 to January 6, 2012.
NMAT 2012 Test Centers:
The NMAT-2012 will be administered across eighteen locations within India. The locations are:
North: Delhi, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow
West: Mumbai, Ahmedabad
South: Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Cochin
Central: Indore, Allahabad, Bhillai, Bhopal
East: Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Guwahati.
Some cities will have multiple test centers to choose from.
The NMAT-2012 will not be offered at any international location.
The venue details (School/College) at each location will be communicated to the candidates through the confirmation e-mail sent after the candidate has been scheduled.
Note: The University reserves the right to cancel any venue of examination for any reason and the applicant will have to take the test at any of the other venues available. The Institute’s decision in this regard will be final.
Candidates will be short-listed on the basis of the combination of their rank in NMAT and preferences.
Note: Group Discussion & Personal Interview for the FT MBA Programmes of Mumbai Campus will be conducted in Mumbai only.
The result for NMAT 2012 will be declared on the website as per the important dates available on the website. Shortlisted candidate is required to download the call letter from our website
www.nmims.edu. The dates for the subsequent process will be uploaded on the website in due course. No separate call letter will be mailed.
The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the application data in terms of academic marks obtained, work experience, marks obtained in NMAT and GD/PI.
The selection criteria will be based on merit. The cut-off for deciding the merit shall lie solely with NMIMS. Also, those candidates who have applied for more than one Programme, in their application forms, their selection will be based on the merit score obtained by them as well as on the availability of the seats. In this regard, the decision of the NMIMS will be final and undisputable and shall be binding on all concerned.
Canvassing, in any form for admission will disqualify the candidate.
All matters of dispute will be subject to the legal jurisdiction of Mumbai only.

NMAT Test Structure:
NMAT would be an objective type multiple-choice test. (There will be no descriptive type questions).

The candidate should note that it is important for them to perform well relative to other candidates in each of the 3 sections of the test as the score of each section and the overall score will be used to shortlist the candidate for the second stage of the selection process as well as in the final ranking. Please note that there will be no negative marking.
Please note that if the candidate is not satisfied by his/her NMAT score in the first attempt he/she may schedule for Re-take NMAT by visiting
www.pearsonvue.com/nmims and logging in with the allotted username and password. In case of candidates taking more than one attempt the best score which is the total score & its respective sectional score, which make the candidate eligible as per the cut offs which will be declared by NMIMS will be considered for short listing for subsequent process. (Cut off means sectional as well as total score). The scores of all the attempts taken by the candidate will be declared on the NMIMS website.
Guidelines for Physically Challenged Candidates:
Physically Challenged will include following (as per PWD ACT of India),

6. Cerebral palsy
7. Learning Disability / Dyslexia
8. Mental illness
Candidates who wish to request for an accommodation must fill in the details in the online application while registering. The candidate must then scan their Disability Certificate and email it together with the candidate's NMAT ID and name, to NMAT2012@pearson.com five or more days prior to their scheduled date. Each application will be reviewed on a case-to-case basis and appropriate assistance will be made available at the test centre. Pearson VUE will contact the candidates to ensure proper assistance is provided to them.
Refund of fees in case of Withdrawal/Cancellation of Admission:
Withdrawal of admission means voluntary withdrawal by candidate for any reason. The candidate should submit a written request for withdrawal / cancellation of admission and submit it to Deputy Registrar (Admissions) along with original fee receipt.
REFUND RULES: The Schedule of refund of fees will be as follows;
1. Till the date of commencement of the programme: Rs. 1000/- will be deducted as administrative charges.
2. After the commencement of programme but before the close of the admission: Rs. 1000 + Proportionate fees i.e. one tenth of the fees for every completed month or part there of, if the seat vacated by the candidate is filled. If the seat remains vacant /unfilled no fees will be refunded.
3. Cancellation after the official closure of admission: Cancellation made after the official closing of admission no fees will be refunded.
About the Test:
The NMAT-2012 is a computer based test with three sections – Quantitative Ability, Language Skills and Logical Reasoning.
The NMAT-2012 consists of questions that evaluate a candidate’s Language skills, Mathematic skills, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency and Intelligence & Logical Reasoning.
The NMAT-2012 is a 2 hour test containing multiple choice questions. There will be a 2 minutes NDA and 11 minutes Tutorial and 2 minutes Section ordering screen.
NMAT-2012, has three sections – Language Skills, Quantitative Skills and Logical Reasoning. The three sections of NMAT-2012 are individually timed and candidates need to answer the sections and review the questions of that section within the allotted section time. Once the candidate moves out of a section, there is no possibility of returning to that section for attempting or reviewing the questions.
NMAT Registration:
Candidates can register for the NMAT-2012 through an online registration application available on website
www.pearsonvueindia.com/nmat from 9:00 am (IST) onwards starting August 1, 2011. Online registrations will close at 11:59 pm Indian Standard Time (IST) on October 10, 2011 NMIMS shall not accept registrations from candidates in any other mode or form.
Confirmation of completed registration and payment will be sent by e-mail only. It is the sole responsibility of the candidate to ascertain whether he/she possesses the necessary and requisite qualification for applying to the program at NMIMS. NMIMS shall not be held responsible for non-receipt of confirmation or bouncing of e-mails or any other concerns rising because of qualifications mismatch.
Registration applications submitted without the proper notified registration fee, or with insufficient or incorrect details, or payment received beyond the specified closing time and date for submitting the registration application, will be summarily rejected and NMIMS shall not entertain any queries with respect to the same.
Candidates need to ensure that the information submitted by them is correct and true in all respects. In case any information is found to be incorrect or false at a later date, NMIMS shall have the right to cancel the test score. In the event of the cancellation of the score due to furnishing of incorrect/false information, the fee paid by the candidate will not be refunded.
There is no provision for on-the-spot registration for the NMAT-2012 at the Test Centres. Candidates have to follow the prescribed registration process published on the NMAT website

Candidates are not allowed to make duplicate/ multiple registrations. Candidature of a candidate is liable to get rejected and fee forfeited, if the candidate registers multiple times. Candidates can apply for any of the three options given below. NMAT-2012 scores will be applicable to the program as selected by the candidate:-
MBA – Full Time, only
PGDM – (Bengaluru & Hyderabad campus), only
MBA – Full Time and PGDM, both
Candidates can edit certain fields like present address and academic background in their application form till they receive confirmation from NMIMS of receipt of Fee paid for registration. Candidates are advised to check the information entered in the online registration application form very carefully while registering and again before making payment as they will not be allowed to make any changes at a later stage.
An application is considered valid only if online submission is made and the registration fee is received by NMIMS by the due date. Registration applications, for which the registration fee is not received in time, will be rejected outright.
NMAT Late Registration:
Candidates who are unable to register in the Registration window between August 1, 2011 and October 10, 2011 will have the option of registering through the online registration application available on website
www.pearsonvueindia.com/nmat during the Late Registration window from October 11, 2011 to October 20, 2011 (till 11:59 pm) by paying the applicable fee through debit card, credit card, DD or cash deposit at any Axis Bank branch, as specified on the site.
Candidates can edit their application form till they receive payment authentication from NMIMS for the Fee payment they have made for online registration. Candidates are advised to check the information entered in the online registration application form very carefully before making payment as they will not be allowed to make any changes at a later stage.
Test Fee Forfeit:
Candidates will have their fee forfeited if they:
1. Appear for test under multiple registrations
2. Make multiple registrations
3. Request for cancellation of their registration
4. Do not schedule a test
5. Request for cancellation of their scheduled test
6. Request for reschedule in less than 72 hours of a scheduled test
7. Do not appear for their scheduled test
Test Centre Change or Cancellation of Test:
Candidates can request for test centre change once they have received the confirmation e-mail from Pearson VUE for the NMAT-2012 by paying an additional applicable fee through Credit Card only by visiting
www.pearsonvue.com/nmims.
Candidates requesting to cancel their test will have their fee forfeited.
NMAT 2012 Results:
NMAT-2012 Scaled scores by section and exam total scaled score will be displayed on NMIMS website within 4 to 5 weeks after the test. The percentile scores will be announced on
February 9, 2012 at NMIMS website
www.nmims.edu.
Candidates’ exam with the highest total scaled score will be used for all admission decisions.
Scaled scores – All the test papers are equated to account for small differences in overall difficulty and the raw test scores are placed onto a common scale. This is done to ensure scores are comparable across test papers such that the scores are not impacted by different candidates getting different test papers.
Percentile scores – The percentile rank or score shows how a candidate scored when compared to all other candidates who appeared for the exam (e.g. all candidates who appeared for NMAT-2012). For example, if a candidate is said to be at the 75th percentile, the candidate scored better than 75% of the candidates who gave the NMAT-2012.
Instructions for Candidates:
i. Candidates will be required to produce non-expired identifications (in original) which have recognizable photograph and signature.
ii. Candidates must arrive at the test venue at least forty five (45) minutes prior to scheduled start time of the test.
iii. Persons accompanying the candidate will not be allowed into the test premises and no waiting area will be provided.
iv. Candidates must adhere to the NMAT-2012 policies, rules and regulations which will be available at the NMIMS specified website.
v. Invigilators have the right to exclude candidates who fail to follow the test centre rules and procedures.
vi. Invigilators will not be expected to provide or collect any registration applications from candidates.
vii. Only pre-registered candidates with names appearing on the system and who have confirmation e-mail printouts and valid IDs as provided will be permitted to take the NMAT-2012.
Instructions for Answering Questions:
i. Candidates must read the instructions carefully given in the questions to mark the answers.
ii. Candidates will have to choose one of the correct answers by clicking their mouse.
iii. Candidates can mark questions for review and come back to them after completion of the section through the Review Screen. Candidates will not be able to review the question from a previous section after the time for that particular section is over.
iv. NMIMS would not entertain any request for revaluation of the test by any candidate.
