Xavier Aptitute Test (XAT) 2012
Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2012 will be conducted on 8th January 2012 by Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI), an association of like minded institutes. There are 16 core member institutes and more than 85 associate institutes located in different parts of the country. The test would be co-ordinated by XLRI Jamshedpur.
XAT 2012 Important Instructions:
Applicants should note that registration for XAT 2012 and appearing for XAT 2012 is the preliminary step towards applying to any of the associate insitutes. Applicants to different insitutes have to apply seperately to each of the associate institutes of their choice.
Axis Bank has been appointed as the partner bank for the registration process. Applicants for XAT 2012 can use any of the 900 + branches of Axis Bank located all over the country to make payment for XAT 2012. Alternatively candidates can choose to pay online using credit card/ debit card/ online banking.
XAT 2012 Important Dates:
Date of Commencement of Application: 20th September 2011
Last Date for Applying: 30th November 2011
Downloading of Admit Cards: 15th December 2011 onwards
Date of Exam: 8th January 2012
Test Timings: 10.30 AM to 01.00 PM
Mode of Examination: Paper & Pencil based *
* The format of XAT would remain pencil-paper based. This is to ensure that candidates of all backgrounds are at par, so that those who have pre-familiarity of operating computers, specially coming from privileged background or having worked in IT sector, do not get any advantage over others who do not have access to computers. The paper-pencil mode also ensures that all candidates are tested on exactly the same set of questions, and not on different sets.
NRI/Foreign Students:
NRI/Foreign candidates desirous of taking XAT 2012 may register for XAT 2012 as per the regular process. Different associate member institutes have different criteria for taking in NRI/Foreign candidates and applicants are required to check these criteria from the respective associate member institutes websites.
XAT 2012 Online Registration:
XLRI Registration is now open and will close on 31st Dec 2011 at xlri.edu. Candidates can register for XLRI Programmes via either cash payment at any AXIS Bank branch or Online Payment mode. The XLRI prospectus would be sent to the address as given by the candidates at the time of XAT registration.

XAT 2012 would be conducted across India in the following cities.
1. Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Berhampur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi, Goa, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mehboobnagar(A.P), Mumbai, Nagpur, Noida, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Surat, Trivandrum, Vadodara, Varanasi, Vijaywada, Visakhapatnam.
XAT 2012 would also be conducted across the following four international cities.
2. Colombo, Dhaka, Dubai, Kathmandu.
Fees for applying to XLRI Programmes
Fees for applying to different programmes of XLRI, Jamshedpur would remain the same as was charged last year.
Eligibility for XLRI Programmes:
The criteria remains unchanged, as given in on XLRI's website
"In its pursuit of academic excellence, XLRI actively encourages the students from diverse backgrounds. While preparing the short-listed candidates for the interview, in addition to XAT performance, we may factor in academic ability and the relevant work experience. Besides performance in the personal interviews (and/or group discussions) we also consider XAT performance, relevant work experience, academic ability, extra curricular activities etc. while preparing the final list."
XLRI actively encourages diversity in its batch so that the learning process is enriched by diverse perspectives. Last year, the cut-off was lowered towards this end. This year too XLRI would work towards having more diversity, in educational background, gender, regional backgrounds, work-experience etc., in the students.
XLRI does not have any specific cut-off percentage for class X or class XII marks. The assessment of candidates is holistic in nature which factor in experience, quality of work experience, the range of extra-curricular activities, the extent to which the candidate has mastered the subjects/ retained the knowledge of subjects covered till graduation, and whether the candidate has developed herself/himself into a subject matter expert in a subject of her/his choice, which indicates her/ his drive towards knowledge gain on one's ability, general awareness etc.
XAT FORMAT:

XAT had three sections:
1. Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning (VA)
2. Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation (QA)
3. Analytical Reasoning and Decision Making Ability (AR)
For Human Resource Management Programme around 1000 applicants having more than 85 percentile in VA, 70 percentile in QA, 75 percentile in AR, and overall 91 percentile have been shortlisted for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
For Business Management Programme around 830 applicants having more than 70 percentile in VA, 90 percentile in QA, 80 percentile in AR, and overall 92 percentile have been shortlisted for Personal Interview.
XAT 2012 Important Notes:
Once you finish your registration for XAT you shall be provided with a unique XAT ID & password.
1. Please note that email to candidate and Login on www.xatonline.net.in ( Accessed by XAT ID & password ) will be the standard mode of communication.
2. The email address that you enter in registration form will be treated as your primary email address and all communications will also be sent to the same.
3. Please ensure that you provide a valid email address.
4. Please ensure that you use your personal email address only as your primary email address in the application. (If you use your official email address and in case you switch jobs, it would be difficult for us to communicate with you).
5. Please add admissions@xatonline.net.in, xat_care@xatonline.net.in as trusted sources in the anti-Spam software of your email. Otherwise, either you will not receive important emails or they will get delivered to your Spam/junk folder.
6. Please access your emails regularly and ensure that your inbox is accessible.
7. Please note that the XAT ID and password gives you an individual login on www.xatonline.net.in and on frequent intervals , you need to check for mails from XAT & other associated institutes.
