Admission to the various programmes in study of the University of Jammu, Jammu / Campuses / Affiliated Colleges

It is notified for the information of all concerned that the admission to various academic programmes of the University of Jammu / Campuses / Affiliated Colleges for the Academic Session 2014-15, shall be made as per the following schedule:

i) Admission to the PG Departments of the University of Jammu / Offsite Campuses / Affiliated Colleges shall be made on the basis of Entrance Test and Academic Merit of Qualifying Examination. The final merit of a candidate out of 100 shall be calculated by giving a weightage of 40 i.e. marks obtained in the Entrance Test and a weightage of 60 to the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination – the 60 shall be calculated by giving the weightage of 20% each to the percentage of marks in Part I, II & III separately.

For admission to the programmes like M.P.Ed/M.Lib.I.Sc/B.A LL.B (5 year)/B.B.A (HM)/Honours Courses the weightage of 60 to the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination shall be accorded so as to calculate the academic merit of the candidate.

For M.Ed 60 shall be calculated by giving the weightage of 80% to marks in theory and 20% to marks obtained in practice of teaching.

ii) There shall be 40 objective type questions carrying one (1) mark each for each subject/programme within the notified syllabus.

iii) Candidates can apply for appearing in the Entrance Test to the maximum of 5 Programmes. The duration for each paper shall be 60 minutes. The examination shall be spread over 6 days as given below:

iv) Every wrong answer shall be awarded minus (-) 0.33 marks. The candidate is required to obtain a minimum of 14 marks out of 40 questions for each subject/programme for general category candidates and 12 marks out of 40 for candidates belonging to SC/ST/ST (residents of Leh & Kargil) category.

v) If the number of candidates who qualify the Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET) is less than the number of seats in Open Merit or Reserved Categories, relaxation upto 4 marks in the Entrance Test may be allowed by the Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of the Admission Committee of the concerned Department.

vi) Centres for Examinations: JUET shall be conducted at different centres at JAMMU CITY.

Fee for the Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET) shall be charged from each candidate as given below:

a) Opting for one programme Rs. 500/- Nil
b) Opting for two programmes Rs. 600/- Rs. 500/-
c) Opting for three programmes Rs. 700/- Rs. 600/-
d) Opting for four programmes Rs. 850/- Rs. 700/-
e) Opting for five programmes Rs. 990/- Rs. 850/-

(Demand Draft should be prepared in favour of Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu, issued by any Nationalized Bank of India, payable at Jammu).

vii) Candidates are advised to fill up the OMR Entrance Test Form very carefully. Incomplete/wrong form shall liable to be rejected and no change can be incorporated after depositing the OMR Entrance Test Form.

viii) The Entrance Test (JUET) shall be held for admission in the following subjects:

a) PG PROGRAMMES: Biochemistry (Self-Financing), Biotechnology (NRI/Self-Financing), Botany, Buddhist Studies, Chemistry, Commerce, Computer Science & IT (MCA), Dogri, Economics, Economics (Specialization in Public Policy), Education, Electronics, English, Environmental Sciences, Food Science & Technology, Geography, Geology, Geology (Hydrology And Soil Dynamics), Hindi, History, Home Science (CRME)/ (Human Dev.), Human Genetics (Self-Financing Course), Information Technology ( M.Sc IT), Kashmiri, Law (LL.B - 3 Years Professional), M.Ed., M.Lib.I.Sc, M.P.Ed, Mathematics, Microbiology (Self-Financing Course), Music, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Punjabi, Remote Sensing & GIS (Self-Financing Course), Rural Development, Sanskrit, Sericulture, Sociology, Statistics, Urdu, Zoology.

b) PG DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES: Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM), Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA), Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Rights & Duties Education.

c) UG PROGRAMMES: B. Com (Honours), B.B.A. (Hotel Management), B.Lib.I.Sc., B.P.Ed, Law (B.A. LLB - 5 years).

NOTE:

1. The programme code for the above mentioned programmes are mentioned at Annexure X of Admission-cum-Information Brochure.

2. The candidates pursuing B.Ed are eligible to appear in JUET-2013 provided their annual exams and final teaching practice are completed/over.

3. The eligibility criteria for BBA (HM), Honours Programmes & B.A. LL.B (5 Year) shall be 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized Institution.

4. There is an age bar for Law Courses (3 Years /5 Years) candidate should check the eligibility before applying (refer Admission-cum-Information Brochure).

5. If the number of students in a programme of study is less than 5, no admission shall be made for the same.

ix) Candidates need not enclose any document/certificate along with the application form at the time of applying for Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET). Certificates/documents shall be submitted only at the time of applying to the concerned Department of the University for which a separate Notification shall be issued after the declaration of Jammu University Entrance Test result.

SALE / RECEIPT of Admission Brochure / OMR Application Form:

1. Sale of Admission Brochure/OMR Application Form shall be made through the following designated counters against Demand Draft (issued by any Nationalized Bank of India, payable at Jammu) amounting to Rs. 500/- favouring Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu, Jammu.

i. Office of the Dean Academic Affairs, First Floor, Old Administration Block, University of Jammu, Jammu.
ii. Offsite Campuses of the University: Kathua, Udhampur, Ramnagar, Reasi, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Poonch.

2. Application form complete in all respects can be submitted alongwith requisite fee in the shape of Bank Draft (issued by any Nationalized Bank of India payable at Jammu) drawn in favour of Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu, Jammu at the following designated counters:

MAIN UNIVERSITY CAMPUS: Department of (i) Law, (ii) English, (iii) Commerce, (iv) Library & Information Science, (v) Life Long Learning, (vi) Physical Education, (vii) The Law School, (viii) School of Biotechnology, (ix) Botany, (x) Geology, and (xi) Dogri.

OFFSITE CAMPUSES: (i) Kathua, (ii) Udhampur, (iii) Ramnagar, (iv) Reasi, (v) Bhaderwah, (vi) Kishtwar and (vii) Poonch.

The candidates can also send their Application Form through Registered Post/Speed Post/Courier to the Office of the Dean Academic Affairs, University Of Jammu, Jammu.

The syllabus for entrance test for the programme(s)/subject(s) is available on the University Website http://www.jammuuniversity.in.

PUBLICATION OF ANSWER KEY: The University shall publish the Answer Key pertaining to JUET- on the University website. Candidates having any doubt with respect to Answer Key/Questions in the JUET can communicate the same to the Office of the Dean Academic Affairs within two days after the publication of Answer Key.

DECLARATION OF RESULT: The result of JUET shall be declared after the approval of the Result Publishing Committee. i.e. Core Committee of JUET. If the need arises, the Result Publishing Committee can moderate the result.

ELIGIBILITY:

MCA Eligibility:
A candidate seeking admission to MCA programme must have passed/appeared in the final year of bachelor degree examination in any stream.

A candidate to be eligible for admission to the Master Degree (other than M.Phil and Ph.D), Bachelor Degree (LL.B (3 Years), B.Lib.I.Sc. & B.P.Ed) and Diploma programmes in the University, must have passed/appeared in the final year of the qualifying Bachelor’s degree examination of 10+2+3 pattern (Honours or General) in Arts, Science, Commerce, or Business Administration or an examination qualifying for a professional degree of not less than 3 years duration or any other examination recognised as equivalent thereof, from a recognised university/institution with at least 40% of the aggregate marks or as specified (36% for the Scheduled Caste/Tribe candidates).

Candidates who have passed degree course of two years duration under 10+2+2 or 10+1+3 pattern and thereafter have passed bridge course of one year duration comprising Part-III of B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. three years (General) course of the University of Jammu or any other recognised University shall also be eligible subject to the aggregate qualifying marks as indicated above. A candidate who has passed M.A/M.Sc./M.Com. examination from the University after having passed B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. examination under the old pattern of 10+2+2 or 10+1+3 shall also be eligible for admission under second preference category to :

(a) a course where the minimum eligibility condition is pass in Three Year Degree (General) Course after 12 years of schooling.

(b) a Master Degree Course in an allied subject, if otherwise permissible under Statutes/Regulations of the University.

Notwithstanding anything contained in Statute 1, a candidate appearing in the final year of the qualifying examinations immediately preceding the Academic Session & expecting to fulfill the Statutory requirement of at least 40% of the aggregate marks in the Bachelor’s Degree (36% in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST) can also appear in the written objective type Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET).
