Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET - 2012)

Admission to the various programmes in study of the University of Jammu, Jammu / Campuses / Affiliated Colleges

It is notified for the information of all concerned that the admission to various Programmes of study of the University of Jammu, Jammu / Campuses/ Affiliated Colleges for the Academic Session 2012-13, shall be made on the basis of an Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET) to be held w.e.f. 31/05/2012 to 14/06/2012

Last date of sale and receipt of OMR application form complete in all respects at designated counters* (without late fee):16/04/2012 (Monday)
Last date of sale & receipt of OMR application form with a Late Fee of Rs.60/-:19/04/2012 (Thursday)

* The sale @ Rs. 100/- and receipt of OMR/Application form shall be made through the following counters:

1. Main University Campus: Through the Teaching Department of Law, Geology, Botany, Zoology, Environment Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, The Business School, Education, Sociology, Urdu, Hindi, English, Political Science, Commerce, Economics & History.

2. Offsite Campuses: Kathua, Udhampur, Ramnagar, Reasi, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Poonch.

The salient features of JAMMU UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE TEST (JUET) FOR THE ACADEMIC SESSION 2012-13 are as:

i) Admission to the PG Departments of the University of Jammu, Jammu/ Campuses/Affiliated

Colleges shall be made on the basis of Entrance Test and Academic Merit of Qualifying Examination. The final merit of a candidate out of 100 shall be calculated by giving a weightage of 70 i.e. marks obtained in the Entrance Test and a weightage of 30 to the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination- the 30 shall be calculated by giving the weightage of 10% each to the percentage of marks in Part I, II & III separately.

NOTE: For admission to the programmes like M.Ed/M.P.Ed/M.Lib.I.Sc/B.A LL.B (5 year)/B.B.A (HM)/Honours Courses etc the weightage of 30 to the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination shall be accorded so as to calculate the academic merit of the candidate.

ii) There shall be 70 objective type questions carrying one (1) mark each for each subject/programme: 60 questions of the concerned subject/programme within the notified syllabus and 10 questions on Logic and Reasoning.

iii) Candidates can apply for appearing in the Entrance Test of a maximum of 5 Programmes. The duration for each paper shall be 75 minutes (ie. One hour and fifteen minutes). The examination shall be spread over 12 days. There shall be 4 subject specific tests on each day spread over two shifts. The schedule shall be as follows:

a. Shift One - Paper I (10:00 to 11:15 hrs IST), Paper II (12:00 to 13:15 hrs IST)

b. Shift Two - Paper III (14:00 to 15:15 hrs IST), Paper IV (16:00 to 17:15 hrs IST)

iv) Every wrong answer shall be awarded minus (-) 0.33 marks. The candidate is required to obtain a minimum of 21 marks out of 70 questions for each subject/programme for general category candidates and 17 marks out of 70 for candidates belonging to SC/ST/ST (residents of Leh & Kargil) category.

v) If the number of candidates who qualify the Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET) is less than the number of seats in Open Merit or Reserved Categories, relaxation upto 4 marks in the Entrance Test may be allowed by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of the Admission Committee of the concerned Department.

Centres for Examinations: There shall be following Centres for conduct of Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET);

viii. Udhampur

Fee: Fee for the Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET) to be charged from each candidate shall be as follows:

Gen. CategorySC/ST Category
a) Opting for one programmeRs. 450/- Nil
b) Opting for two programmes Rs. 550/- Rs. 450/-
c) Opting for three programmes Rs. 650/- Rs. 550/-
d) Opting for four programmes Rs. 800/- Rs. 650/-
e) Opting for five programmes Rs. 950/- Rs. 800/-

Candidates are advised to fill up the OMR Entrance Test Form very carefully. Incomplete/wrong/duplicate (more than one form) forms shall be rejected and no change can be incorporated after the depositing OMR Entrance Test Form.

The Entrance Test (JUET) shall be held for admission to following subjects:

a) PG PROGRAMMES: Biochemistry, Biotechnology (NRI/Industry Sponsored Seats), Botany, Buddhist Studies, Chemistry, Commerce, Computer Applications (MCA), Dogri, Economics, Education, Electronics, Environmental Sciences, English, Food Science & Technology, Geography, Geology, Hindi, History, Home Science (CRME), Home Science (Human Development), Human Genetics, Information Technology (M.Sc IT), Kashmiri, Library Science (M.Lib.I.Sc), M.Ed., M.P.Ed, Mathematics, Microbiology, Music, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Punjabi, Remote Sensing & GIS, Sanskrit, Sociology, Statistics, Urdu, Zoology.

b) PG DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES: PG Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM), PG Diploma in Human Rights & Duties Education, PG Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA).

c) UG PROGRAMMES: Library Science (B.Lib.I.Sc), LL.B (3 Years-Professional), Bachelor in Physical Education (B.P.Ed), B.A. LL.B. 5 Year, BBA (Hotel Management).

NOTE: The qualification for the above mentioned programmes is 10+2+3 or equivalent.

d) Programmes after 10+2 or Equivalent: B.A. LL.B. 5 Year, BBA (Hotel Management), B.A English (Honours), B.Com (Honours).

Candidates need not enclose any document/certificate alongwith the application form at the time of applying for Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET). Certificates/documents shall be submitted only at the time of applying to the concerned Department of the University for which a separate notification shall be issued after the declaration of Jammu University Entrance Test result.

PUBLICATION OF ANSWER KEY: The University shall publish the Answer Key pertaining to JUET- on the University website. Candidates having any doubt with respect to Answer Key/Questions in the JUET can communicate the same to the Office of the Dean Academic Affairs within two days after the publication of Answer Key.

DECLARATION OF RESULT: The result of JUET shall be declared after the approval of the Result Publishing Committee. i.e. Core Committee of JUET. If the need arises, the Result Publishing Committee can moderate the result.

ELIGIBILITY:

MCA Eligibility:
A candidate seeking admission to MCA programme must have passed/appeared in the final year of bachelor degree examination in any stream.

A candidate to be eligible for admission to the Master Degree (other than M.Phil and Ph.D), Bachelor Degree (LL.B (3 Years), B.Lib.I.Sc. & B.P.Ed) and Diploma programmes in the University, must have passed/appeared in the final year of the qualifying Bachelor’s degree examination of 10+2+3 pattern (Honours or General) in Arts, Science, Commerce, or Business Administration or an examination qualifying for a professional degree of not less than 3 years duration or any other examination recognised as equivalent thereof, from a recognised university/institution with at least 40% of the aggregate marks or as specified (36% for the Scheduled Caste/Tribe candidates).

Candidates who have passed degree course of two years duration under 10+2+2 or 10+1+3 pattern and thereafter have passed bridge course of one year duration comprising Part-III of B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. three years (General) course of the University of Jammu or any other recognised University shall also be eligible subject to the aggregate qualifying marks as indicated above. A candidate who has passed M.A/M.Sc./M.Com. examination from the University after having passed B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. examination under the old pattern of 10+2+2 or 10+1+3 shall also be eligible for admission under second preference category to :

(a) a course where the minimum eligibility condition is pass in Three Year Degree (General) Course after 12 years of schooling.

(b) a Master Degree Course in an allied subject, if otherwise permissible under Statutes/Regulations of the University.

Notwithstanding anything contained in Statute 1, a candidate appearing in the final year of the qualifying examinations immediately preceding the Academic Session & expecting to fulfill the Statutory requirement of at least 40% of the aggregate marks in the Bachelor’s Degree (36% in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST) can also appear in the written objective type Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET).

RECEIPT OF APPLICATION FORM:

Applications for admission to various programmes of study (except M.Phil. and Ph.D.) in the teaching departments of the University/ Campuses/Affiliated Colleges shall be received within fourteen (14) days from the date specified in the notification of admission by the University. Application forms prescribed by the University, COMPLETE IN ALL RESPECTS must be deposited at the countre designated by the University ON OR BEFORE THE LAST DATE prescribed by the University for the purpose as per the notification.

The Dean Academic Affairs may authorise late entertainment of an application form for admission to a programme of study up to a maximum of three (3) days after the last date prescribed by the University for receipt of application forms, on payment of requisite late fee*. Such applications shall be treated at par with those received in time for purposes of admission.

NOTE: Candidates need not enclose any document/certificate along with the application form at the time of applying for Jammu University Entrance Test. Certificates/documents shall be submitted only at the time of applying to the concerned Department of the University for which a separate notification shall be issued after the declaration of Jammu University Entrance Test result.

Admission to the following programmes shall be made through a separate Entrance Test to be notified by each concerned Department separately after approval from the Dean Academic Affairs.

i) MBA
ii) MBA (H&T)
iii) MBA (IB)
iv) M.Sc Biotechnology (Except NRI/Self Sponsored seats)

SEATS: Number and Distribution

The number of seats in a programme of study in the Teaching Departments of the University shall be determined before the commencement of the academic session by the Dean of the Faculty and Head of the Department concerned in consultation with members of the teaching staff of the Department and with the approval of the Dean Academic Affairs and wherever necessary, of the Vice-Chancellor/Syndicate/University Council. The number of seats so determined shall be communicated by the Head of the Department concerned to the Dean Academic Affairs before commencement of admission process.
