NIT MCA Admission 2012-13
The NIMCET is NIT MCA Common Entrance Test, a National Level Test conducted by NITs for admission in to their MCA programme. The admission to the MCA Programme in to NITs at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli and Warangal for the year 2012-13 is be based on the Rank obtained in NIMCET-2012 only.
Candidates should apply for NIMCET-2012 through on-line only. Candidates must follow instructions strictly as given in the website http://nimcet2012.nitw.ac.in. Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be summarily disqualified. On-line submission of application at website may be made by accessing the website http://nimcet2012.nitw.ac.in.
Application Form:
After successful filling of online form, electronically submitted pages of application will be generated for each and every candidate bearing his/her entire information as filled by him/her and a unique application number will be generated which candidate can use in future correspondence.
Candidates are required to take hard copy of the electronically submitted application after successful submission of data. Candidates must keep a photocopy of the hard copy of the electronically submitted application for use wherever and whenever required. Candidates should pay the fee Rs.1500/- for Open/OBC category and Rs.750/- for SC/ST category candidates.
The fee is to be remitted through demand draft drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favour of NIMCET-2012 payable at Warangal. All the candidates are advised to write name, address, unique application number generated and printed on hard-copy of the application form on reverse side of the demand draft. Please ensure before posting the hard-copy of the electronically submitted application that all the enclosures specified in check-list are enclosed.
Hard copy of the electronically submitted application form with demand draft and other enclosures should reach the Secretary, NIMCET-2012, National Institute of Technology, Warangal-506004, Andhra Pradesh by speed post/registered post/by hand on or before 16th April, 2012. Even after the successful submission of on-line application within due date, if the hard-copy of application does not reach the Secretary, NIMCET-2012 on or before 16th April, 2012 or reaches without the requisite fee, application form will be treated as cancelled. Information regarding receipt of applications will be put on the website http://nimcet2012.nitw.ac.in.
The candidates can check the receipt of their application number on the website after 26th April, 2012. Candidates whose particulars do not appear on the website may write to the Secretary, NIMCET-2012 up to 04th May, 2012 by forwarding a photocopy of the hard-copy of the application form, proof of payment of fees such Xerox copy of demand draft and two passport size photographs, proof of posting/handing over it in the office.
Admit Card:
Admit cards will not be posted. Eligible candidates have to download their own admit cards. In case the admit card is not available for downloading, the candidates should write/contact the Secretary, NIMCET-2012 between 7th May, 2012 to 15th May, 2012 giving details of the candidate’s application number and proof remittance of fee.
Candidate must preserve the admit card till the admission process is over. Request for issue of duplicate admit card will not be entertained after the examination in any case. Admit card number should be quoted henceforth in future correspondence.

NIMCET 2012 Eligibility:
Indian Nationals securing 60% marks or 6.5/10 CGPA (55% marks or 6.0/10 CGPA for SC/ST category) in 12th (10 + 2) level or equivalent with Mathematics as one of the subjects at either 10+1 or 10+2 level or at both the levels; and; qualifying degree#-bachelor’s degree of full time* 3 year or more duration from a recognized university with at least one of the following as a chosen subject of study; Mathematics, Statistics, Business Mathematics, Business Statistics, Discrete Mathematics, Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Elementary Mathematics, Elementary Statistics are eligible to apply for NIMCET-2012.
The percentages of marks in 10+2 and qualifying degree are to be calculated on the basis of marks obtained in all the subjects (including optional subjects, if any) studied.
(* Students who have completed/completing qualifying degree (programme of three year or more duration) from open universities as eligible to apply provided their programme is approved by UGC/AICTE/Distance Education Council (DEC) of Govt of India).
(# The candidates who are appearing for all the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply for NIMCET-2012).

This is tentative list of test centers. If enough number of candidates do not opt for a particular centre that centre will be cancelled and then center chosen as second choice will be allotted automatically.
Test Pattern: NIMCET‐2012 test will be conducted with only one question paper containing 120 multiple choice questions covering the following subjects; Mathematics 50 questions; Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning 40 questions; Computer Awareness 10 questions; General English 20 questions.
Syllabus:
I. Mathematics (50 questions)
Set Theory: Concepts of sets-Union, Intersection, Cardinality, Elementary counting; permutations and combinations.
Probability and Statistics: Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, measures of central tendencies and dispersions.
Algebra: Fundamental operations in algebra, expansions, factorization, simultaneous linear/quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, determinants and matrices.
Coordinate Geometry: Rectangular Cartesian coordinates, distance formulae, equation of a line, and intersection of lines, pair of straight lines, equations of a circle, parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola.
Calculus: Limit of functions, continuous function, differentiation of function, tangents and normals, simple examples of maxima and minima; Integration of functions by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction, definite integrals, applications of definite integrals to areas.
Vectors: Position vector, addition and subtraction of vectors, scalar and vector products and their applications to simple geometrical problems and mechanics.
Trigonometry: Simple identities, trigonometric equations properties of triangles, solution of triangles, heights and distances, general solutions of trigonometric equations.
II. Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning (40 questions)
The questions in this section will cover logical situation and questions based on the facts given in the passage.
III. Computer Awareness (10 questions)
Computer Basics: Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), structure of instructions in CPU, input/output devices, computer memory, and back-up devices.
Data Representation: Representation of characters, integers and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, binary arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, simple arithmetic and two’s complement arithmetic, floating point representation of numbers, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams.
IV. General English (20 questions)
Questions in this section will be designed to test the candidates’ general understanding of the English language. There will be questions on the following topics: Comprehension, vocabulary, Basic English Grammar (like usage of correct forms of verbs, prepositions and articles), word power, synonyms and antonyms, meaning of words and phrases, technical writing.
DISTRIBUTION OF QUESTIONS:
The question paper will contain 120 multiple choice questions covering the following topics:
1. Mathematics - 40 questions
2. Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning - 55 questions
3. Computer Awareness - 10 questions
4. General English - 15 questions
Admission Methodology:
Admission Procedure: NIMCET-2012 application form is common for appearing for entrance test and for counseling for admission to MCA at all the eleven participating NITs offering MCA programme. Participating Institutes are NITs at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli and Warangal.
Candidates are not required to apply separately to any NIT for admission to MCA programme. The admission to MCA programme in all the 11 participating NITs will be based on NIMCET-2012 rank and choices to be opted by the candidates during the counseling/admission process. All the eligible candidates are required to lock their choices between 07th-13th June, 2012 till 5.00 p.m. However, automatic lock will be put on choices of all the candidates after 5.00 p.m. on 13th June, 2012. Final seat allotments will be made on the basis of his/her rank and institute choice locked.
Declaration of Results:
No separate rank card will be sent to the candidates. Ranks secured by candidates in the NIMCET-2012 website
http://nimcet2012.nitw.ac.in and also in participating institutes’ websites. Rank information will be sent through e-mail to the candidates’ mail-IDs. Candidates will be awarded with NIMCET-2012 rank on or after 05th June, 2012 and they have to take print out of their rank card made available in the website. Candidates who got rank can login and fill the choices of participating institutes in their order of preference between 12th June, 2012 to 18th June, 2012. They can modify these choices or reorder them any number of times. However, they have to lock their choices on or before 5 p.m. on 18th June, 2012. Candidates will be offered seats based on their choices in the order of merit over four rounds of allotment.
WEB ENABLED ON-LINE APPLICATION FORM:
Eligible candidates are required to fill-in web enabled on-line application forms from any place of their convenience. Candidates are required to create user login ID and password for themselves and use the same, as and when required. They are also required to take hard copy (a print out) of the electronically submitted online application and send it by speed post/registered post/by hand to the following address along with copies of mark-sheets and pass-certificates of SSC/10th class, 12th class and Bachelor Degree along with a demand draft worth of Rs 1500/- for open/OBC category and Rs 750/- for SC/ST category drawn in favor of NIMCET-2012 payable at Warangal.
Applications should reach by speed-post or registered-post or by hand on or before 5.00 p.m. on 16th April, 2012; the Secretary, NIMCET-2012, National Institute of Technology, Warangal-506004, Andhra Pradesh State. Applications received after due date and time will not be considered.

The application form can also be submitted in the office of NIMCET-2012 at NIT, Warangal by hand on all working days between 10.00 a.m. and 05.00 p.m.
If the dully-signed hard copy of the application form along with the original demand draft and other documents is not received by the office of NIMCET 2012 on or before the last date 16th April, 2012, Monday the application will be rejected.
Candidates are required download Admit Card which will be made available on the website
http://nimcet2012.nitw.ac.in from 7th May, 2012.
Such candidates shall have to furnish the proof of fulfilling the eligibility criteria of NIMCET-2012 preferably at the time of counseling/admission but not later than 31st August, 2012, failing which their admission is liable to be cancelled by the respective NITs.
