Vellore Institute of Technology Master’s Entrance Exam (VITMEE) is an entrance exam for admission to M.Tech and MCA courses in Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore, Tamil Nadu. VIT is considered to be amongst the best institutes in the country for technical education. VIT was founded in 1984 as Vellore Engineering College. In 2001 it got status of a university by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

ADMISSION PROCEDURE:
i. Admission to both MCA and M.Tech programmes will be based on the candidates' performance in VITMEE conducted by VIT University.
ii. The names of candidates short-listed to attend the interview will be published in www.vit.ac.in
iii. Candidates short-listed for interview will be informed of the date and time through SMS if mobile number is provided. This information will also be available in the website.
iv. Selected Candidates should pay a deposit of Rs.10,000 as an advance at the time of the interview. This amount will be adjusted against their first year fee.
v. This should be paid by means of Demand Draft drawn in favour of
“VIT University”, payable at Vellore (only computerised DD will be accepted).
vi. Candidates who fail to pay the advance at the time of interview will not be considered for admission.
Entrance Exam Details:
VITMEE EXAM DATES:
VITMEE will be conducted on both 9th and 10th June 2012, between 10am to 12 noon and 2.30pm to 4.30 pm on both the days. VIT will inform the candidates the exact date and time to the candidates which will be uploaded in website.
Pattern of the Question Paper:
i. The computer based test (CBT) question Paper consists of 110 questions, with a maximum of 100 marks.
ii. NO negative marks for wrong answers.

Your application should be sent through either Registered Post/ Speed Post
Receipt of Completed Application Forms: Any application received after last date will not be accepted.
Any delay in receiving the application by the candidate will not be considered as a valid reason for late submission after the last date. The Institute will not accept responsibility for any postal delay, irregularity or loss in postal transit.
Eligibility:
Nationality: The applicant for admission should be a Resident Indian National and should have graduated from Institutions located in India.
Eligibility Criteria:
i. Candidates should have graduated with a full-time degree from any recognized University with a minimum aggregate of 60% for MCA and 50% for M.Tech. degree programmes.
ii. Consistent Record in X Std. and XII Std. is required.
iii. Candidates appearing for their final degree exam / final semester exam in the current year are also eligible to apply.
iv. Candidates should have completed their final Semester/year exams before the selection interview at VIT University.
v. It is compulsory for candidates selected to produce their final year marks’ statement and Provisional degree certificate before August 15th, 2012, failing which, their admission will stand cancelled.
Academic Qualifications: The minimum academic qualification required for admission to the various M.Tech. / MCA programmes is given below:
M.Tech PROGRAMMES:
Automotive Engineering Run in collaboration with Automotive Research Association of India, (ARAI), Pune: B.E./B.Tech. Degree in Mechanical / Automobile / Production / Manufacturing Engineering or Mechatronics or any equivalent degree.
Computer Aided Design / Computer Aided Manufacturing: B.E./B. Tech. Degree in Mechanical / Automobile or Production Engineering or any equivalent degree.
Energy and Environmental Engineering: B.E./B.Tech. Degree in any branch of Engineering & Technology / Biotechnology / Biochemical / M.Sc. Environmental Science / Physics / Chemistry / Applied Sciences or any equivalent degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects in Higher Secondary level.
Mechatronics: B.E. / B. Tech. Degree in Mechanical / Automobile or Production / Electrical & Electronics / Electronics & Communication / Electronics & Instrumentation / Instrumentation & Control / Computer Science / Information Technology / Mechatronics or any equivalent degree.
Manufacturing Engineering: B.E. / B. Tech. Degree in Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing / Automobile Engg. or any equivalent degree.

MCA PROGRAMME: A bachelor degree in any branch with at least one of the following subjects at the under graduate level: Computer Science, Computer Technology, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics and Business Mathematics.
ADMIT CARD:
The Admit Card will be issued only to those candidates who have submitted their application forms complete in all respects before the last date.
Admit cards can be download from www.vit.ac.in/vitmee2012. Admit Card will not be faxed or sent by e‐mail.
The candidates must not mutilate the Admit card or alter any entry made therein after it has been authenticated and received by them.
The Admit card is not transferable to any other person. Impersonation is a legally punishable offence.
The Admit card will contain your name, registration number, photograph, your postal address, slot, date of examination and also the address of your test centre, test schedule and set of instructions for you to read carefully and prepare accordingly for the test.
The candidate should carefully examine the Admit card once received. Any discrepancy as such should be immediately brought to the notice of the Admissions Officer.
No candidate will be permitted to write the test without a valid Admit Card. The Admit Card should be presented to the invigilators for verification.
The Admit Card is an important document. It should be preserved and produced at the time of Interview and Admission.
INTERVIEW/COUNSELLING: (will be held at Vellore & Chennai)
The candidate should produce the admit card at the time of interview. Candidates will be short‐listed for an interview on the basis of their performance in the Entrance Examination conducted by VIT University
Selected candidates should pay an advance of Rs.10,000/‐ towards counselling fee. Counselling fees is Non‐Refundable, but it will be adjusted in the tuition fees once the candidate joins the University. (Computerised DD only accepted)
This amount should be paid by means of Demand Draft drawn in favour of
“VIT University”, payable at
Vellore.
The candidate’s name will be removed from the admission list, if he / she fails to pay the advance at the time of the Interview.
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS PERTAINING TO CONDUCT OF COMPUTER BASED TEST (CBT) ENTRANCE EXAMINATION:
DATE : 9th and 10th June, 2012
TIME : 10.00 am – 12.00 noon & 2.30 pm – 4.30 pm
Candidate is expected to arrive at the examination hall atleast 1 hour before the start of examination, with Admit Card ( hard copy). If the candidate does not report on time, they are likely to miss the general instruction given in Exam Hall.
Candidate will not be permitted to enter into examination hall after 10:30 am/3.00 pm
Candidate will not be permitted to leave the exam hall until 12 noon/4.30 pm, even though the exam had been completed.
Candidates are requested to keep the Admit Card safely with them and bring it during the Admission Process. Candidate should produce it on demand.
Scholarships:
Several Scholarships and Assistantships for meritorious students:
i. Monthly stipend of Rs.4000 for top six GATE scores in each M.Tech Programmes
ii. Top GATE scorers will get a stipend + contingency of Rs.1,70,000 for M.Tech. Nanotechnology under the DST (Govt of India) Nanotechnology initiative.
iii. Top VITMEE / GATE scorers will get a stipend of 3600 Euros (ie. Rs.2.40 lakhs) for a double degree programme in Communication Engineering from UAS, Darmstadt, Germany (Under DADD Fellowship).
