The Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences is a leading state-of-the-art Multi Speciality Hospital and Teaching Institute at Kalapet, bordering the state of Tamilnadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry in Southern India. The college has been approved for full recognition by MCI (Ref.: Letter No.MCI-34(41)/2007-Med./26987, dated 08.01.2008) for MBBS Degree granted by the Pondicherry University.

In pursuance to the decision of the Apex court in Islamic Academic Educational and Another Vs State of Karnataka and others dated 14-08-2003, a Common Entrance Test is to be conducted by an Association of Pondicherry Un-aided (Self-financing) Professional Colleges. Now Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences and Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College & Hospital have been granted permission to conduct a Common Entrance Test in the name of “Common Entrance Test for Postgraduate Medical Courses-2011” (CETPGMC-2011); for the purpose of selection & admission of students for Postgraduate course in the Private colleges under the Management Quota.
The application is meant for registering the candidate for Common Entrance Test (CETPGMC-2011) for Postgraduate courses conducted by PONDICHERRY INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES and SRI MANAKULA VINAYAGAR MEDICAL COLLEGE & HOSPITAL.

Eligibility for Admission:
As a pre-requisite for admission to the PG course, Candidates must have appeared in CETPGMC-2011. However, mere appearance in CETPGMC-2011 will not automatically qualify a candidate for admission to PG courses. The candidate should fulfill the necessary admission requirements prescribed by the Medical Council of India for that degree course.
Minimum Academic Qualification:
Applicants should have passed the M.B.B.S. from an institution recognized by MCI and must have completed / be completing their internship by 30th April 2011 and also should have obtained a Permanent Registration from any State Medical Council in India before commencement of the Course.
Syllabus:
PART-1 - Basic Sciences: including Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology and Forensic Medicine & Toxicology. - 100 Questions
PART-2 - Clinical Sciences: including Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Community Medicine, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, ENT, Anaesthesiology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radio-diagnosis and Radio-therapy. - 150 Questions
Hall Ticket:
After processing the application form the Hall Ticket for CETPGMC-2011, containing the Name, Registration Number, Photograph and Entrance Test Center will be sent to the candidate by post. (Names of eligible candidates will also be displayed on the website). The Hall Ticket must be produced at the time of Entrance Test. Without the Hall Ticket no candidate will be permitted to write the test. Mobile Phones will not be allowed inside the Exam hall.
Duplicate Hall Ticket:
If the Hall Ticket is not received by 11-04-2011 the candidate should contact the CETPGMC-2011 test center selected by you with two passport size photographs and proof of having applied for CETPGMC-2011 to get the Duplicate Hall Ticket.

Rank List showing the marks scored by the candidate in the Common Entrance Test will be displayed on the notice board of the College soon after the Publication of result and on the website as well.

Candidates desirous of appearing for the Common Entrance Test (CETPGMC 2011) should fill their application in the prescribed format and send it directly by Post / Courier.
Candidates can use either the application form given along with the Information brochure, or a downloaded application form from the website

Candidates who use the downloaded application form have to pay Rs.1,000/- (Rupees One thousand only) as a Demand Draft separately towards the cost of the application along with the completed application form. The Application and Information booklet can also be obtained in person on payment of Rs.1,000/- (Rupees One thousand only) by cash from the Office or can be obtained by Post by sending a requisition along with Demand Draft for Rs.1,050/- (Rupees One thousand and Fifty only) inclusive of postal charges drawn in favour of 'Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences' payable at Pondicherry. After processing, if found eligible, the Hall Ticket will be sent to the candidate by post. (Names of such eligible candidates will also be displayed on the website).

The completed application form should reach the office
before 5.00 p.m on 26-03-2011. CETPGMC will not be responsible for postal or any other delay. Incomplete / Wrongly filled applications will be summarily rejected. The application received after the due date and time will also be summarily rejected and no further correspondence in the matter will be entertained.

The students will have to take an Objective Type Test in the subjects as mentioned under 'Syllabus' column.
The Candidate should send a copy of the MCI recognized M.B.B.S qualification. The internship certificate and copy of the Permanent Registration obtained from any State Medical Council are mandatory for eligibility to register as a Post Graduate student.
Note: Admission made is provisional and is subject to approval of respective authorities as prescribed by the Medical Council of India, and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi. No subsequent correspondence will be entertained on any matter pertaining to the CETPGMC 2011.
