For selection of candidates for admission to Postgraduate Courses in Medicine for the Academic Year 2012-13

Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences was given a status of Deemed University from 29th September, 2003 by Human Resource Development Ministry, Govt. of India on the advise of UGC under section (3) of UGC Act 1956 vide their notification No. F-9-11/2000-U.3.

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for All India Common Entrance Test (PIMS-AICET-PG-II 2012) for selection of candidates for admission to Postgraduate Courses in Medicine (MD/MS) for the academic year 2012-13 in the Rural Medical colleges of Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed University) for increased seats.

Commencement of Classes: Medicine P.G. Courses : 02 / 05 / 2012

Admission Process:

All India Common Entrance Test for the selection to Postgraduate courses in Medicine & Dentistry for the academic year 2012-13 will be conducted by the Admission Committee. The entrance test herein after will be referred as PIMS-AICET-PG-II 2012.

Name of the Subjecsts: For following subjects increased intake has been notified through letter of Intent from Govt. of India.

Medicine (MD/MS):

1. Paediatrics: 02 Seats
2. Ophthalmology: 03 Seats
3. Pharmacology: 03 Seats
Total = 08 Seats

Distribution of Seats:

a. General Category : 50 % seats are reserved under this category. The admission to this category will be made on the basis of inter-se-merit of the candidates at PIMS-AICET-PG-II 2012.

b. Management Category : 50 % seats are reserved under this Category.

Candidates seeking admission under this category will have to apply separately to The Registrar, PIMS University. The last date of submission of such application is 28th April 2012. Admission to this category will be made on the basis of PIMS-AICET- PG-II 2012 merit of the candidates applied under this category.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidate seeking admission to postgraduate Medicine/Dentistry course should hold MBBS degree of recognized University by MCI.

A candidate who has completed one year compulsory rotating internship or is likely to complete the same on or before 30 April, 2012 can appear for PIMS-AICET-PG-II 2012 .

All such candidates will have to submit the documentary proof, from the Principal / Dean of the college regarding the likely date of completion of internship along with the manual application form, failing which the application shall be rejected.

A candidate should have obtained permanent registration with MCI (as the case may be) or any state council. If candidate does not have such registrations , he should obtain the same within one month from the date of his/her admission.

Candidates who are previously registered and pursuing/completed the PG degree course or have obtained PG degree, are not eligible for appearing at PIMS-AICET-PG-II 2012.

Candidates previously admitted to PG degree course and resigned/left the course are not eligible for appearing at PIMS-AICET-PG-II 2012.

Candidates who have completed Medical postgraduate diploma course or would be completing by 31.03.2012 will be eligible for PIMS-AICET-PG-II 2012 for admission to Medical postgraduate degree in the same subject only.

Mode of Entrance Test:

Date & Time of Entrance Test: Monday - April 23, 2012 from 2.00 p.m to 5.00 p.m.

Centers for Entrance Test: The PIMS-AICET-PG-II 2012 will be conducted at Rural Medical College, Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Deemed University, Loni BK.

The venue of examination will be intimated to the candidate on his/her Hall Ticket.

There will be one question paper of 3 hours duration containing 200 multiple choice questions (MCQs). Questions will be based on syllabus of respective undergraduate course and will cover all the subjects of undergraduate course ( i.e. MBBS as the case may be ).

Each correct answer will be awarded one mark. There will be no negative marking for wrong answers. Scratching, overwriting, tick-marking and multiple answers will be considered as wrong answers and no mark will be awarded.

Submission of Application form & Entrance Test Fee:

Filling of Application form: The candidates are required to fill the application form completely. Incomplete application form will be rejected. The Photograph on the Application form should be attested by gazetted officer or Principal of the college last studied.

Entrance Test Fee: The fee for the Entrance Test is Rs.2,000/- . The fee is payable by demand draft in favour of “Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences”.

Submission of Application Form:

The candidate should ensure that his/her application form along with hall ticket and demand draft reaches the office of the Competent Authority within the specified time and date on the following address.

The applications received after the due date or not accompanied by the demand draft covering entrance fee will be rejected. The Admission Committee will not be responsible for non-receipt of the application form within the specified time and date due to postal delays. Application forms should be sent only by registered post or handed over to the Office of Competent Authority personally. The candidates are advised not to send the application form by courier service or through any other agency.

Selection Process: Candidates who secure minimum 50% marks at PIMS -AICET-PG- II 2012 and satisfy the eligibility norms laid down by respective councils shall be eligible for admission to Medical P.G. Courses and would be offered admission to these courses on the basis of inter-se-merit at the time of counselling.

Counselling: The Counselling session will be conducted at Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Loni 413 736, Tal-Rahata, Dist – Ahmednagar, (MS), INDIA. The schedule will be displayed on official website of PIMS University http://www.pravara.com at the time of declaration of PIMS-AICET-PG-II 2012 result.
