Sikkim Public Service Commission Examinations
The Sikkim Public Service Commission started functioning from 1982 with the appointment of the Chairman and deputation of the staff from the State Government. Since then, the Sikkim Public Service Commission has been entrusted with the work of conducting Union Public Service Commission examinations.
Duties & Role of the Commission:
The Sikkim Public Service Commission has been established under Article 315 of the Constitution of India. The Commission consists of a Chairman and one Member.
The terms and conditions of service of Chairman and Members of the Commission are governed by the Sikkim Public Service Commission (Members) Regulations, 1983.
The Commission is serviced by a Secretariat headed by a Secretary supported by officers and staff.
The Sikkim Public Service Commission have been entrusted with the following duties and role under the Constitution:
i. Recruitment to services & posts under the State through conduct of competitive examinations;
ii. Recruitment to services & posts under the State Government by Selection through Interviews;
iii. Advising on the suitability of officers for appointment on promotion;
iv. Advising Government on all matters relating to methods of Recruitment to various services & posts;
v. Disciplinary cases relating to all government employees; and
vi. Miscellaneous matters relating to grant of extra ordinary pensions, reimbursement of legal expenses etc.
The major role played by the Commission is to select persons to man the various Services and Posts.
Post of Sub-Inspector in Sikkim Police 2011:
Applications are invited from eligible local candidates for filling up of 32 (thirty two) posts of Sub-Inspector on temporary regular basis in PB-2 of Rs. 9300-34800 plus grade pay of Rs.3800/- in Sikkim Police and Armed Police/IRBn, Government of Sikkim.
ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS FOR APPEARING IN THE EXAMINATION FOR THE POST OF SUB-INSPECTOR IN SIKKIM POLICE:
In order to be eligible, a candidate must possess the following minimum physical, age and educational qualification:
A. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
1. Minimum Educational Qualification : Class XII Passed from a recognised Board.
2. Other Qualifications: (1) Should have valid Local Employment Card. (2) Should have communicative skill in English/Hindi, Nepali and Mother tongue.
3. Age : Should have attained the age of 18 years as on 01.04.2011 and the upper age limit shall be as follows:
(i) S.T. - 35 yrs.
(ii) S.C. - 35 yrs.
(iii) B.L - 35 yrs.
(iv) MBC - 34 yrs.
(v) OBC - 33 yrs.
(vi) General - 30 yrs.
(vii) Home Guards - Additional Advantage of 02 years.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:
1st Stage : Written Examination (there will be 3 papers)
a. General English - 50 (fifty)Marks
b. General Knowledge - 50 (fifty)Marks
c. General Paper - 200 (two hundred)Marks
(General paper will include all subjects studied upto Class X level.)
2nd Stage : Physical Efficiency Test - 65(sixty five)Marks. (after qualifying the written examination)
3rd Stage : Viva – Voce - 35(thirty five) Marks. (after qualifying the Physical Test)
Application form can be downloaded from www.spscskm.gov.in The form should be filled up by the candidate himself/herself and submitted in the office of the Superintendent of Police in their respective districts along with original Bank Receipt of State Bank of Sikkim, for Rs. 150/- credited to ‘0051-SPSC’. Last date for submission of filled-in application form is Friday the 15th July, 2011.
Application received after 03:00 P.M. of 15.07.2011 shall not be accepted.
Date for issue of Admit Card will be intimated in due course of time.
No TA/DA is admissible for attending the examination/ Interview.
On selection, the candidate should be willing to serve within and outside the State of Sikkim.
